Hoping to get some advice. I had no fashion sense before I became a mum and since having dd I generally look like a slob most of all of the time.

But I am due to be a bridesmaid this summer. The idea of wearing a dress puts the fear of god in me at the best of times but I'll also be 7 months pregnant.

My natural figure is pear shaped. I'm 5"7 and currently weigh 11 stone so a bit on the chunky side. Does anyone know anywhere I can buy a maternity dress from that isn't going to make my thighs look monstrous?

I've looked on the Isabella Oliver site and there are some beautiful dresses but the model is skinny and I dread to think what I'll look like in them.

I have no specific advice other than to avoid anything satiny. It isn't the most forgiving of fabrics at the best of times and if you're feeling sensitive about your weight, pregnant or otherwise, you just won't feel special and lovely like you should. Good luck with finding something though, I'm sure someone will have some more helpful advice than me Smile

Seraphine have some nice dresses, I quite like the maxi dresses, which might make good bridesmaid dresses.

I've was a bridesmaid at 6 months pregnant and wore a non maternity dress 2 sizes bigger than normal. It needed a minor adjustment to the straps but it looked great! (It was empire line so fit easily over the bump) I am lucky though in that I don't put on much weight other than boobs and bump

Right no satin stuff.

Ooh I forgot to ask does anyone know if you can get control underwear for pregnant women. You know the massive cycling short style knickers that stop your thighs wobbling - does anyone do them for pregnant folk?

Going to check out Seraphine

Thanks guys

You could also try JoJo Maman Bebe.

Argh there's so many bloody styles. What cut dress will make my arse and thighs look slimmer?

I'm so going on a massive diet after the birth, if nothing else it makes dressing yourself a lot easier.

I was a bridesmaid at 8 months pregnant. My dress was a maternity one by Alfred Sung for Dessy as I had to match the other bridemaid (size 8, stunning girl, grrr) and she was also in Dessy. V neck, empire line, floor length. Comfortable and flattering, I got so many compliments. I wore maternity spanx underneath, found them very comfy and helpful! Having recently been on a quest to find a great nursing dress for a wedding guest can also recommend Tiffany Rose who do lovely maternity wear.
