This is weird as i have to buy smaller knickers than my clothes size, and always have.

Think it might be a body shape thing though? I am appkey in shape with no discernible hips and though i wear a 10 or 12 in trousers i need an 8 in knickers.

I'm wearing size 8 skinnies over a size 16 thong atm so am with you entirely.

I bought a load of sz 16 ones when pregnant and can't bring myself to chuck em. So comfy. I'm happy to squish my size 10/12 lower half into vanity sized small items, but yy to pants being the final frontier.

Snowcatliveshere · 13/04/2013 20:25

Nothing worse that tight knickers- I always size up!

KatyS36 · 13/04/2013 20:25

Pirate cat, that's exactly what I have. Also yyy to clothes size varying but staying a 16 in knickers.

AmberNectarine · 13/04/2013 20:45

I do this, but my last Figleaves order of Ms and 12s arrived and they are all too big really, so I should really move down to S/10. I just can't reconcile the description of S with my arse, plus as MrsCB rightly points out, cutting in is not a good look.

hmm interesting, i am deffo a pear/glass so have alot of flesh to cover. I can see that if one were an apple there may not be so much girth over the hips to stretch over.

i think Confused! I would only feel comfy in an 18 thong, tho i am a 12-14 jeans.

piratecat · 13/04/2013 22:07

I've invested in some skinnies, one pair of olive green and one groovy pair in cherry red/black pinstripes. It's been yrs since i have worn a thong, and i found one in knicker drawer but tho the size is fine, it's lacey (what was i thinking it's so old i can't remember if it was purchased in this century)

So I need some decent thongs. Cotton. Looked in M&S, terrible quality with the pack ones, like thick paper. Need something nice, but functional. Tried lowrise seam free, they'll be going back, they show!

I had a friend who was a recovering(ish) anorexic, she was tiny, size 8 at the most, naturally slight, I doubt she had even come near a size 12 prior to her eating disorder days. She would wear tight clothes, go out in bra tops, that kind of thing, so wasnt someone who generally covered up in big baggy clothes. She always wore size 14 knickers though, was never sure if it was just cos she liked big comfy pants or if they were from her 'bigger' days and she had just kept wearing them

fengirl1 · 13/04/2013 22:41

But does anyone have the problem where one size falls off their arse but the next size down is too tight?

bleedingheart · 14/04/2013 06:53

Yes, Fengirl, size 14 falls down but 12 in some brands gives me VPL.
I have the most awesome pair of tummy huggers on today. I feel safe and warm! Grin

Big pants are amazing. I hate thongs, I much prefer full bum coverage. I don't think I even own a thong. It is true for me though that one size is too big but the next size down has the ability to cut off my circulation. Much depends on the brand though.
