Nail Art tubes/pens etc for 13yo DD -any recommendations or ones to avoid?

DD wants to buy some nail art stuff - shes been looking at the tubes and pen sets that you can buy on ebay for example, some of which look great but are they likely to be crap?

Are there any cheap and cheerful brands that are OK? Any preferences for the tubes or pens?

She's not into the transfers , bling or gems etc, just the nail polish that you can apply to make patterns IYSWIM

I really have no idea what to look for as all I do is paint my toenails in the summer!

Just remembered that I started this thread last week.

No ideas anyone?

She should check out the recommendations and tutorials on Youtube for some recommendations. Often you don't need a special kit, for example you can do 'ombre' fading one colour into another using a foundation sponge and I currently have a red heart on my thumbnail by cutting a stencil from some masking tape (big kid emoticon) so yes, youtube is the best place to get ideas Smile

I bought my DD (11yo) some Models Own nail polishes for Chrisymas when they were doing a buy one/ get a free nail pen offer.

She doesn't do serious nail art , she's planning to do it for her end of term school fayre.
I can feel it in my bones than she's be practicing on me.

Now I need to buy some nail jewels for her...

Strange that I bumped this thread today as DD came back from her friends earlier with some really intricate nail art that her friend did for her - she only had one hand done but there was a nail decorated to look like a strawberry, a rainbow one and one with the most delicate flowers.

The were actually quite expertly done.

Found the perfect ones (well DD says they're perfect as they have the brush and pen applicators) so thought I'd post a link in case it helps anyone else out who might be looking (nail art has taken off big-time in DDs group of friends):

Hi. I bought some 'dotting tools' from eBay for about a quid. You can use ordinary nail varnish then to make patterns.

I also bought a set of nail art varnishes with long skinny brushes from tk Maxx. They were about £7 and worth every penny! They were in the bits and bobs of make up section!

Pinterest has HUNDREDS of cool nail patterns to copy.

DD bought the Nails Supreme set of 10 for around £20 (try Amazon) and has used them to do some fantastic intricate designs.
