Slightly delicate: need to squeeze blackhead on 12 year old dd's nose!

Or is there an alternative?

I've had a go at it, but its not coming out easily and I don't want to damage her skin and also she is being a bit of a baby about the discomfort.

What about those nose pore clearing strips? Would one of those get a proper blackhead out?

Any advice for ol' Mintyy and her pre-teen dd?

Put a hot flannel on it for a minute or so before attacking it.

Doesn't she want the satisfaction of doing it herself though? Grin

I have the same problem with my 13 yr dd. She had two blackheads on her top lip but won't let me at them!! I tried nose strips. They take out the little ones but no success with larger ones. I have a black head tool I bought on amazon but haven't been allowed to use that either!!

MintyyAeroEgg · 02/04/2013 17:48

I know Shatners! I am jealous of her little blackhead Smile. I haven't had one for at least 20 years!

Steam her face ? Should soften it up nicely so you can pop the little bugger....Nothing like the satisfaction of popping a blackhead....

www.boots.com/en/Tweezerman-Skincare-Tool_927184/

These are very good, they cause as much bruising or lead to more spots.

Dishwasher proof too. TMI.

Startail · 02/04/2013 18:37

Mintyaeroegg [buenvy] much as I like squeezing them I've had blackheads for the last 33 years and they show no sign of buggering off and I bet the menopause will just bring more.

GlaikitHasHerFizzBack · 02/04/2013 18:40

Tell her if she doesn't let you she will turn into

Just kick her out, make her live somewhere else, the stress of looking at those blackheads, at them mocking you for weeks, its just, its just too much

Speaking with bitter experience

Jimjamatron · 02/04/2013 19:06

Get her one of those tweezerman tools. I have two noticeable scars on my nose where my mum squeezed blackheads when I was about 12. To be fair they must have been massive and hugely annoying to look at but as I get older, the scars are getting worse/more noticeable. (I am 33).

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/04/2013 19:19

I'm using Retin A cream for my blackheads, after about 20 years they are teeny little black dots.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/04/2013 19:19

Damn strikeout fail.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/04/2013 19:34

my 13yo DS is getting a bit plukey.

I have bought him:
Boots Skinclear FaceWash
Boots Skinclear Scrub
Boots Skinclear Rabid Action Gel

And one of those metal spot thingies.

Little blighter winces like a puppy if I suggest he uses it, so I make him use the Boots treatment.

BTW the nose strips did nothing. Waste of money IMHO.

I thought teens were desperate to attack their spots.Confused

Where can I send him to? I'll pay postage............

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 02/04/2013 20:01

I can't wait for DS1 to hit puberty Grin I'm just going to strap him down and attack.

auldspinster · 02/04/2013 20:15

You can get much cheaper versions of the tweezerman tool on ebay. I've still got a blackhead problem on my nose at 37 - it no fair [busad]

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/04/2013 20:25

My DS is developing a monobrow too....no way can I pluck his eyebrows though.
It'll be a dawn raid with wax when he's asleep. Shock

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/04/2013 20:31

auldspinster try retin a cream, it's brilliant stuff.

SanityClause · 02/04/2013 20:32

DD1 was quite spotty, at about 11 and 12.

It was upsetting her, so we went to the GP and got some topical antibiotics. Her skin looks so much better, now, although it tastes ghastly when I kiss her goodnight.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/04/2013 20:36

Retin A cream-

do you need to use high SPF suncream with it?

missalien · 02/04/2013 20:39

Where do you get retin a cream?

RunningAgain · 02/04/2013 20:41

Also interested in the retin a cream. Would love to get rid of my blackheads.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/04/2013 20:41

Yes, the rules are;

Apply a pea sized amount over the face excluding the eyelids in a thin layer.

Apply 20-30 minutes after cleansing

Apply every other night to start off with

Wear SPF 30 or above.

Do not use any other exfoliants whilst using retin a eg salycilic acid or facial peels.

I got mine off amazon. Blush

FannyFifer · 02/04/2013 20:48

That blackhead video is superb, that is my dream job. Grin

RightsaidFreud · 02/04/2013 20:51

PLEASE be careful! My mother used to do to this to me as a spotty teen and after one horrible little(or rather large!) blackhead blighter being removed, i was left with a small hole in the side of my cheek! Still hasn't closed 10 years later! I have no idea why.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/04/2013 20:52

Amazon. Or the gp can prescribe it but I wasn't brave enough to ask so I ordered it off amazon, I knew to be careful as its powerful stuff and you can't mess about with it.

It makes you break out at first.
