Has anyone tried Nioxin for thinning hair?

I've been looking into Nioxin but am confused about exactly what I need to buy... I see there are kits which include shampoo, conditioner and a treatment but I wonder if the treatment is the most important bit, in which case I might be better off just buying that. Does anyone have any experience of using Nioxin? Thanks.

Not personally, but MIL uses it as her hair fell out after she got sick. She swears by it and her hair looks strong and thick.
Dh also uses it as his dad was almost completely bald at 40 and they have a very similar hair type.
He has extremely fine hair- but there is still lots of it at 41.

Thanks MrsLion. Do they use each step in the system or just the treatment?

My hairdresser recommended it to me. I have very fine hair. She said just to use the system 1 cleanser (shampoo) & the scalp revitaliser (conditioner) but not the leave in treatment as that can be quite harsh on the scalp. I have used it 3 times in 4 days (wore a hat yesterday as the weather was so cold & I couldn't be bothered washing my hair) & I am hugely impressed. I never wear my hair down as I hate how thin it is but OMG I have so much more confidence now to not put my hair up into a pony tail. Even now my hair has so much body. I also use a Alterna Bamboo volume spray. Hope this helps.

Thanks. That sounds very hopeful then. Especially with getting a quick result.

Washed it again this morning & put on a bit of hairspray. Looked good. Been at a farm for a few hours & boy it was windy & made the mistake of combing the hairspray out & it looks more lank now. Note to self "do not comb hair when it is ridiculously windy". Hate my fine hair! Good luck :)

Have ordered one of the kits from amazon. Fingers crossed it helps.

They just use the shampoo and conditioner- mainly because the treatment is quite expensive I think!

hi!

I experienced hair loss before but after using Natural hair regrowth supplement from Reloxe and it worked for me only within few months.Reloxe has the same ingredients with Nioxin.

My hairdresser recommended it to me when I was pregnant with my second child just 18 months after my first. I lost so much hair following the birth of my first I was scared I would go completely bald with the second - except with revolting 1 inch regrowth. And it was really brilliant, would recommend it.

Does it help more hair grow in? Or just make hairs actually thicker?
