Would you buy Carvela synthetic shoes?

They are patent but I'm used to leather, I'm worried they will look cheap/tatty.

If you are referring to plastic shoes, it's not the look, it's the feel. Leather adapts to your feet, synthetics don't. And they are sweaty.

If you love the patent look remember that it's actually possible to buy real patent leather - real leather treated with a lacquer resin-like finish. Many higher-end items are still made with this type of patent. Charity shops can be a good source too.

I did once - they looked ok but yes, they are sweaty. I won't buy at that price again. I don't mind cheap plastic shoes, but at Carvela's prices I want leather.
