Hi, so I am having my first bikini and leg wax in years, and was wondering if there are any new magical creams that will help dull the pain? Will check back this evening. Thank you.

EMLA cream anesthetises the skin. Buy it from chemist, ask for it behind the counter. Apply 15 minutes before the wax and you wont feel a thing. Wash your hands after!!

If you have lycon wax it doesn't hurt at all - I could not go back to the old way now.

I have a pre holiday wax booked for tomorrow and am dreading it. I bought some Veet on the way home just in case I wuss out. I get so embarrassed still.

Three Ibroprufen does the trick for me, and a Wine

Bunbaker · 26/03/2013 21:24

It doesn't hurt that much honestly! I never bother with any pain relief and I am quite a softy.

Iwillorderthefood · 26/03/2013 22:59

Ok I am off to the pharmacy to get EMLA cream and will take nurofen for good measure. Thanks

Iwillorderthefood It doesn't hurt that much. I can't understand the big deal.

BecauseImWorthIt · 27/03/2013 08:53

It really doesn't hurt that much! And it's over with very quickly.

Iwillorderthefood · 29/03/2013 20:51

I did it, it was ok, hurt, but the person doing it was really quick. Bunbaker it was a big deal to me, I hate any sort of pain.

I take it that you haven't had children yet?

LoganMummy · 29/03/2013 21:42

Is the cream ok to use when pregnant?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2013 21:42

I did mine the night before we went on holiday (but in retrospect I should've done it a few days before)

Use a scrub exfolliant to loosen dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs.
I use a talc to dust the skin and keep the skin dry
Small areas at a time (but I'm doing my own)
Keep the skin as taut as humanely possible

Try not to wax in the days before AF (skin is more sensitive)

Gin? [bugrin]

BrunellaPommelhorse · 29/03/2013 21:47

Oh god. Just go and get but done. It doesnt hurt.

LadyWidmerpool · 29/03/2013 21:51
Wine

Things hurt people differently BTW, there's no need to sneer at the OP. I can barely tolerate having my eyebrows plucked for example because it's bloody sore. I've had a child, it doesn't mean all other pain vanishes!
