I'm going to a very, very glamorous wedding in a couple of weeks and um, not to sound too cliche, but I have nothing to wear.

I had a baby (who's now 18 months old) and I'm still fat. I've lost a stone (yay!me) but I'm still an easy size 18 and it sucks. I have a wardrobe of lovely dresses that would work in a size 12/14 and I can't even get them over my upper arms - and wow, that's not depressing at all.

So, I found this dress here which I like. I know it's a bit safe but I'm not in any kind of shape for anything more out there. But it's sold out in my size and I can't find it anywhere else either.

So, could anyone suggest anything like it? Or seen anything similar that might work? I'm quite tall - about 5'8 and still hourglassy even though it's covered in blubber. So wide shoulders, small(ish) waist, wide hips. I suit 50's type stuff - am really self conscious about my bum though, so nothing fitted.

I'd be really grateful for any suggestions :) TIA.

Do you need sleeves? If so what length?

cremeeggsrock · 24/03/2013 10:29

Could team it with red petticoat to add fun?!

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2013 10:56

How about this?

SirToffee that Coast dress is lovely, but it's cotton and the shape makes it really big.

This one might be better coast

CandlestickOlder · 24/03/2013 10:58

Sorry, thought they had those in an 18.

There is this though: m.my-wardrobe.com/mt/www.my-wardrobe.com/vivienne-westwood-anglomania/dahlia-drape-neck-dress-770791 Westwood, £179. Also in black and a print.

One left in red though!!

I know, missed the word "glamorous" in my skim read Blush

Love the dolly dagger one, though, and the phase eight sweetheart dress. Hope you find one you like, quibbler.

This, with one of these

theQuibbler · 24/03/2013 11:06

oh what fantastic suggestions already! thank you :) I really like that get cutie dress but I'm a wee bit scared of patterns. I also like that polka dot dress from Land's End and Asos seem to have a few possibilities. The Issa is gorgeous but sadly out of my price range and probably too short for comfort. I'd prefer sleeves but can always dig out a pretty bolero or cardie if I need to.

Tesco

Bettie Page would be good if you want to be ever-so-slightly less safe but the same sort of shape.
