I want some black straight leg jeans with a high enough waist to cover my muffin top..

...but not so high waisted that it squidges my muffin top up under my ribs. So, not the Next high waisted jeans, but something a bit higher than standard.

I'm size 10-12 (dependant on the shop) and apple shaped and struggle to find jeans that don't go baggy but do hold my tummy in.

Can anyone recommend any please?

Adds do some really good ones that fit your criteria. They're about £18.

Thanks mocking, is that Asda?

Topshop Jamies are good for me... Grin

Uniqlo or m&s jeggings

wrongsideoftheroad · 23/03/2013 18:58

Thank you, have not been into topshop for a while, will have a look when I'm in town next.

Don't think we have a uniqlo - chablis I had high hopes for M and S jeggings but I am just too chunky of thigh to pull them off :(

M&S do some black jeans that are only £12.50 that sit on the waist. I have a black pair and a blue pair - they are fab! (Especially as they are a size 8 [beams])

Here

Thanks BIWI,

They look like a good fit (and price) but the wash on the black one isn't quite right, and I don't like the visible stitching on the hems.

I'm wary enough as it is about black jeans but have squared it with myself that deep black is ok, but anything remotely faded or with white stitching screams IT geek with characted t-shirt and mobile phone in a clip on their belt (I'm overthinking this, aren't I? But that's a whole other thread...)

It's not white stitching - it's a sort of rusty colour.

hugoagogo · 23/03/2013 19:22

Sainsburys do some- very generous on the thigh are sainsbos. Wink

Out of interest, why do you want black jeans if you don't really like them?

wrongsideoftheroad · 23/03/2013 19:29

I like black jeans that are properly black to the point of looking like a pair of trousers. I just don't like that kind of washed out black denim that washes out more and more over time.

I don't like visible stitching on black jeans whatever the colour of stitching...

Basically, what I like are black trousers in a jeans style, I guess!

Topshop Joni

Will have a look at Sainsburys, thanks, though I've found their sizing too large in the past.

My thighs are chunky in shape but they are solid muscle as I do a lot of exercise so anything 'roomy' is a no go. I just don't want a pair of jeans so tight they show every muscle group Wink

Gap.

BobblyGussets · 23/03/2013 19:52

New Look do a good pair. So do Primark, but my calves were too chunky for those (they were skinnies).

wrongsideoftheroad · 23/03/2013 20:36

ty will look those places too

I order my uniqlo online as we don't have any in Northern Ireland.

And size down.

Oasis, Cherry style (the high-waisted version)

lovesherdogstoomuch · 23/03/2013 21:09

would you believe, Dorothy Perkins? v good range of trews. seriously pop in. you'd b surprised! i'm a young (i think) 45. i have a natural aversion to anything 'frumpy' but i did find some great 'trews' in DottyP. let us know how you do. ')

rocket74 · 23/03/2013 21:14

Definitely Dorothy Perkins - skinny leg bailey are my fave - not high-high waisted but I'm a size 16-18 and don't go anywhere near anything that would ride down and show bum cleavage!
They do it in proper black with black stiching. They do fade a bit after a while.
