I have a wedding to go to next week. The families are quite glamorous. I Am Not.

What make up should I get?

Short hair - mid brown. Brown eyes. Pale skin.

Thanks.

That does sound bargainous. I definitely can't afford £100. Thanks.

I like No7 stuff from Boots

My must have is the Airbrush Away primer

Their Intelligent Colour foundation

Then an eyeliner, mascara, cream blusher and lippy

No7 is on 3 for 2 at the moment

I'd do a light, not too overdone-type face. Laura Mercier Oil Free (still gives a luminous effect) Moisturiser is an investment and though costly, lasts forever. Has SPF20 too, just in case the sun makes an appearance. Nice creamy blush.... Bobbi Brown have a new Pot Rouge out called Pretty Powerful Pink and it's idiot proof and ... can be used on lips so, a bargain two in one product. Really pretty. I'd skip eye shadow/liner in favour of lots of mascara. That would be a definite "madeup" look for a "virgin" but enough to show you have made an effort, for the special occasion.

I braved the Clinique counter and got a foundation and concealer. Also liked the colours of the blusher and lipstick she used on me so will look for similar but cheaper this week. I really like the look of the Bare Minerals stuff but didn't dare risk getting the wrong shade.

Bourjois is excellent for blush, and I really like the Revlon Lip Butter lipsticks because they let enough of your natural lip colour through for pretty much any shade to "adjust" to suit your colouring.

Do you have decent brushes yet (for foundation, blush and possibly powder)? If not, Real Techniques does a foolproof foundation brush called the Expert Face Brush (available at Boots) and Boots's own brand bronzer brush is great for blush. I don't recommend Boots's own brand foundation brush, even though it's lovely and soft - the finish is nice but not great for me, and the handle of mine fell off within two weeks, as did the handle of its replacement.

Bourjois foundation and blusher are great - Boots and Superdrug often have 3 for 2 so you could get both and mascara for £20. MUA eyeshadow palate (Undressed is good) sold for ~£4 at Superdrug is very good. So for £25 you can be completely sorted and very made up!

I'd go for a trio of brownish eye shadows from Bourjois (or clinique if you can stretch to that) line your lid with darkest brown, fill in crease with mid shade, blend lightest colour around. Nice mascara (Rimmel or No 7 do great ones) in black. Pop of colour. The Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge are fab and a doddle to apply, just pat it on the apples of your cheeks. They can be a bit drying on the lips so I'd go for a coloured lip gloss, I got a good one again from Clinique. Currant I think? Bit of bronzer or pearly shimmer over the top. Job done!

Also watch some Lisa Elidrige videos on You tube - really good.
