Hayulp!
My wee cousin turns 21 in 2 weeks. She's just finishing a fashion and design course and is well cool. Her style is very much her own thing and she's a big fan of vintage stuff.
I'm really struggling to think of a funky 21st pressie. Money and vouchers for where, for gawdsake!) are a total last resort.
At the moment my best idea is a Jo Malone candle. Won't last forever like jewellery would (if I could suss what she might like - nothing too "ordinary") but is quality and a "label" .
Budget £30-£50 max.
Any ideas, fashionista sistas?

Steinberg and Tolkein on kings road in london is The vintage shop - maybe they can help out or do a voucher for you.

MamaG · 08/05/2006 19:23

Can you get to Kendal? A new shop has just opened there with the most FANTASTIC funky jewellery. I fell in love with many things in there today...

spub · 08/05/2006 19:25

Thanks guys.
London slightly problematic as we're in Scotland. Kendal - don't suppose you have a name of the shop or a web address?

Sorry - brain is on a go-slow -

  • how about an eyebrow threading appt - for the coolest eyebrows ever! any cool girl you can think of has had hers done - can be done at Harvy Nicks or some other swanky salon.

Or a makeover at a beauty counter with the purchase of one or two lovely products - and then go out for a cool glass of champagne to celebrate.

  • Some gorgeous material for her to make herself some stunning outfit.
Safer options could be an engraved disc that could be worn on a chain or something.

If she is not London -based then have a look at teh V and A museum website as they have some amazing fashion etc exhibitions and that could be interesting for her - Pressie could be a train ticket or a dinner or something to tie it all together.
I could go on, but it would help to know if she is in London or not.
HTH

Hi, its not a style present but we bought my cousin/goddaughter a ticket to see Robbie Williams in concert. We announced it by sending her a text message on her phone for her to read during her party it said

"please forward this message to your friends -

Sorry girls won't be out in town this weekend(sept 9th) I'm off to Leeds to see ROBBIE"

She was overwhelmed and in floods of tears. I realise that tickets for concerts or a special event etc can't be kept but memories do last!!
Does your cousin have a favourite group etc she would like to see??

MamaG · 08/05/2006 19:35

its called Maya Maya and has lots of gorgeous designer stuff - like a fantastic charm type bracelet but absolutely stuffed with things, in silver, turquoise etc, really funky! About £40 for that I think.

Dunno if its got a website, but they are new and v helpful so they MIGHT even send you some pics and mail order!

spub · 08/05/2006 19:58

MamaG - thanks. I'll deffo google and check it out.
Jen - she's into music that's super obscure and drops interest the minute it becomes mainstream (LOL at the pomposity of cool 21 year olds!) She's off to some bizarre music festival in Spain but has the all the kit she needs to camp (there went my Cath Kidston tent moment).
Cool - she's in Glasgow. The disc idea is a good one as is the material. You have also inspired me to look at the V&A online and see if they have a lovely book about fashion design through the ages so she can be inspired and rip stuff off....!
Cheers so far. Big help.
I feel like an uterly tragic 35year old saddo with no cool nouse whatsoever!!! I don't think I was always this pants at this stuff!!

I've just thrown loads of magazines away but if you check out the websites in the shopping directory you can stumble over allsorts of fantastic shops. Try Grazia. They always have vintage sites but i've forgotten the names!
