Benefit make-up tutorial - which of their products is worth it??

Indulged in a bit of retail therapy today and wandered into Debenham's to look around the make-up. I always buy the same sorts of shades but am not very confident/ adventurous choosing make-up. I bought the Watt's Up illuminator but then the lady said they do complimentary make-up tutorials and signed me up for one next week.

So, which of their products are actually worth the price? - because I know I'll be under pressure to buy something, even if just one item!

Would any Benefit fans like to advise? :)

The blushers are nice and the BadGal mascara in black is very good for making your lashes look very full and very very black. The Some Kinda Gorgeous foundation faker is also very nice but is more for summer wear IMO.

Gingerandcocoa · 20/03/2013 18:31

I love the concealer... Looks really natural and matches my skin tone perfectly.

TheBookofRuth · 20/03/2013 18:39

I love Benetint and one little bottle last me about a year, even though I use it almost every day. If you shape and colour in your brows Brow Zings are a good piece of kit, and also last a while.

RevoltingPeasant · 20/03/2013 18:43

Aw thanks, all!

I get my brows shaped and they're dark enough that I never colour them in as it makes me look like a drag queen Grin

Actually, I'm looking for a blusher and a mascara. Just bought Boots No 7 Fanomenal - SO disappointed!!!! It's just gunky. Ick.

I really like Too-Faced Lashlight mascara and sounds like the Benefit one is similar, so might be worth trying.

Brow Zings, Bad Gal mascara & Boing are all I use from Benefit.

But I'd have a look at their website beforehand and see if there's anything in particular that takes your fancy so that you could ask them to use that when you have your tutorial.

I got a small sample of a foundation/concealer thing called Pore something and I liked that. You really shouldn't feel that you have anything but I know I'd feel the same!

dontyouwantmebaby · 20/03/2013 18:45

PS just read your post above, if its mascara you are looking for then the Benefit Bad Gal one really is lovely (IMO!) Smile

I really like you rebel tinted moisturiser - only two shades but it's fab. Doesn't highlight my gaping pores like so many others do (including Laura mercier).

OneLittleLady · 20/03/2013 18:53

ah, I'd forgotten about You Rebel. I use the light one myself, if you are pale of skin, the normal one in the red tube will be too dark. The light version comes in a kind of beige coloured tube with red writing on it. I'd also forgotten about Porefessional, that stuff is great, makes my skin look silky smooth.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/03/2013 19:08

I really, really rate Benetint and it lasts for absolutely ages, even using it every day. It's lovely - don't believe anybody who tells you that such and such a shop does a copy that's exactly the same for tuppence ha'penny. They are never anywhere near as good.

bagpuss · 20/03/2013 19:20

My three faves are lemon aid eye lid primer, Creaseless cream eye shadow in birthday suit and dandelion blusher. I cannot live without any of them! I am using That Gal face primer at the moment which is also pretty good compared to the Clinique one I have too.

I have used a few of their blusher powders and have found them all good so would probably go for one of those if I had to buy something.

Gingerandcocoa · 20/03/2013 19:26

dontyou I got the Pore-something (forgot the name too :)) and got lots of spots after using it a couple of times... not sure whether it was directly related but been afraid of using it again ever since!

QuietNinjaTardis · 20/03/2013 19:31

Porefessional is fab, they're real mascara is also brill. They're blushes are nice too and they're skincare is also quite good.

futterbingers · 20/03/2013 21:05

My current fave blush is Sugarbomb - its a very natural-looking colour. Dandelion blush is lovely, very delicate.

littlepeas · 20/03/2013 21:12

The oxygen wow foundation is excellent. Also love browzings, benetint/posietint, bad gal mascara and eyeliner, dandelion powder......I love benefit!

froginthepond · 20/03/2013 21:21

I really like their stuff. My favourites are the Erase Paste concealor (my best beauty buy ever!), Dandelion powder, Its Potent eye cream, Badgal lash mascara but the best mascara i found was the They're Real! mascara Smile Hope that helps.

pixiegumboot · 20/03/2013 21:28

second the erase paste Concealer it is fantastic does not sink into wrinkles! also benetint is awesome. they're real mascara also awesome does not irritate my eyes like maybelline or Revlon.

RSVP · 21/03/2013 07:29

I really rate That Gal primer.

TallulahBetty · 21/03/2013 07:53

Dallas powder. The perfect cross between blusher and bronzer! Gives me amazing cheekbones Smile

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/03/2013 10:06

They're Real mascara. I used to have Too Faced's, but They're Real is much much much better. Too Faced's mascaras dry out prematurely.

They also have some lovely makeup brushes.

Sallystyle · 21/03/2013 11:48

I need to stop reading this forum, it is bad for my pocket.

Just bought the erase paste and big beautiful eyes.

froginthepond · 21/03/2013 13:39

Agree Samu2 Grin Im getting good ideas for future purchases. Its nice to hear other peoples recommendations for brands i like.

valiumredhead · 21/03/2013 13:54

BeneSHIT imo, everything I have tried has been useless and over priced.

QueenOfCats · 21/03/2013 14:02

I hated the badgal lash mascara. Gunky shit IMO.

However, the they're real mascara - fuckin amazing! I'm thrilled with it!

miche8 · 21/03/2013 16:45

The blusters sugar bomb, coralista and Dallas are all very nice. I have bought the boing and erase a paste concealers a several times I prefer them to bobbi brown, erase a paste is best for under the eyes. I found the mascaras very wet and messy, they don't give a natural look, so definitely try them before you buy. I have a mini tube of the pore professional or what ever its called, quite nice but not sure ofishil will buy the full size.

miche8 · 21/03/2013 16:46

Oh and when they do your makeup, they write down what they use and I say I'll carry on with my shopping and think about what I want to buy, don't be pressured.
