When do you buy summer clothes? The shops are full but it is still snowing here!

Every year I seem to struggle to find summer clothes, by the time the warm weather comes the shops are full of autumn clothes and I've missed the boat.

The shops are filling up with bikinis and shorts but I was out in the snow yesterday so it seems ludicrous to go shopping for my summer clothes now, also seems a waste of money at the moment to buy things that I won't be able to wear for months or ever if last summer is anything to go by

I do really need summer clothes because I have nothing that fits so do I need to be brave and go and try on swimming costumes now snow or no snow

I tend to buy if I see something, but don't usually go looking at this time of year - I usually look in August when my holiday is fast approaching and struggle, but that's because the weather has been so awful. Every year I think I'll be more organised and buy early on but the thought of taking all my layers off to try strappy stuff on in the cold takes the pleasure way.

I agree it is so hard this time of year! Monsoon are selling off some of their Spring stuff already and have real summer stuff out. Makes me feel cold just looking at it all!

I'm trying to lose weight too so want to be a size smaller come summer so not planning on buying anything just yet.

And don't get me started on shoes! I think I will be going straight from boots to Birkenstocks. Can't see anything I like to bridge the gap between boots and summery sandals.

I bought some cropped chinos in Gap yesterday with 40% off ..never seen so much stuff reduced.

I don't go on holiday so don't need really summery clothes, but am still wrapped up in layers and boots. So cold here.

I'll start buying in the next week or two but thats more because my bump is too big for last years summer clothes and i'm one of those weird annoying people who can't stand being even .5 of a degree too hot i get incredibly angry, flustered and sweat pours off of me

Plus i like getting flip flops and sandals early :)

I cannot even look at the summer clothes whilst it is so cold.

I am still looking for winter woolies as my stock of cardigans & jumpers are now almost threadbare due to over-use.

I start buying things as soon as they come into the shops because I am so bored with winter clothes by February. And I forget that it never gets warm enough here to wear them! I am trying to be more restrained this year and only buy WARM things. Should ensure a tropical summer ...

snowing heavily here but I am looking for shoes for spring. Wishful thinking really. Yes, I'd get summer things now if you want to, more relaxed than when everyone is doing it. I always want to wear new things straight away though, so I'd find it frustrating

Its a blizzard here at the moment, complete white blanket on the ground and yet I'm looking for swimming costumes Seems crazy but if I leave it for a month or two then they will all be gone learnt that lesson last year

I'm not buying anything summery. I think there were about 4 days last year when it was too warm for jeans and I already own skirts and shorts which will be fine for that limited usage. British summer dressing for me means revealing my wrists and ankles.

I've bought stuff mainly because I know I'll be away quite frequently to warmer places over the summer (most work related) so have bought a few thing. To be honest the things I have bought are the type that have disappeared by August when I am normally thinking about summer clothes.

I bought sandals early last year. It was actually a good decision because by the time the reasonable (not good) weather had arrived the shops had sold out of the ones I would have bought.

If I buy anything, it's in the summer sales. It takes me until then to be fed up with my existing clothes, as they only come out once the temperature gets over 20 degrees. Before then, I pick up the odd t-shirt, etc, when ambling around Sainsbury's.

I have a running list (one for winter clothes and one for summer) and I just add or subtract from it as I need or buy things. I generally make my summer list in January as that's when the shops/websites start to sell thier summer stock and then i just have a mad buying frenzy. If I leave it until May or later then I find all the things I like or that are my size have gone. Except for shoes. I have massive feet so can buy my shoes all year .

I also buy my clothes in the summer sales.We didn't have a summer last year so i only wore them on holiday.I can't understand people who buy all their summer clothes in febuary-it seems a total waste of money,and is a triumph of hope over experience.But saying that, i have bought some plain t shirts and some raincoats.As these were the items i wore most last year.

I have two moans about this:

1. I need warm clothes. It is bloody freezing. I don't want summer clothes.

1. I would however like to order some nice flip flops. Unfortunately all the ones I like have sold out!

I'be bought some Ipanema flip flops, that is all so far!

I have a June birthday so I use that as chance to build a summer wardrobe as we tend to go away for our summer holiday not long after.

I was totally confused until I saw the dates!

I buy far fewer summer clothes than autumn winter clothes. Probably because the weather here in the UK is never that hot and we've been holidaying in Northern France for the last few years.
I won't even bother looking at stuff this side of Christmas and tend to wait until all the December and January sales are out of the way. I will then buy things that catch my eye. I agree that if I wait til June, my size is sold out.
I also keep a running list of my wardrobe in my phone. The only things I am really looking for this year that I would define as summer clothes are a swimming costume, vests, a cotton skirt, a cotton dress and some sandals.
