Can anyone recommend any really good ones? My hair is long, lifeless, dull, very thin and very fine. Need a hairdresser who actually knows what they are talking about and will give me a style that is easy to look after but will give it a bit of body and shape.
Thanks ladies.

Have heard good reports of Percy & Reed on Gt Portland Street. My colleague goes there and has shiny, swishy hair that always looks well groomed. She says they are great at cuts that don't require a lot of skill and effort to style yourself.

I peered in the window last week but was too fazed by the stylish youths inside to go in and book and appointment. I may try to summon up enough courage this week.

I'm going to Percy and Reed tomorrow for a wash and blow-dry, I could let you know what it's like?

polyhymnia · 18/03/2013 10:21

Yes, do tell us what it's like. I'm v happy with the central London salon I go to at the moment, but always interested to hear of other good ones.

Does it have to be W1?

I go to Glass in the city right next to Barbican tube.

Fernando is great- I have a wash n go long layered bob- he's been there 10 years and is good. Laid back salon and not too ££- around £65.

Sickandsad · 18/03/2013 18:30

Yes please Turnip!

KindleMum · 18/03/2013 18:35

Would you do Fulham/Hammersmith?

crazyscientist87 · 18/03/2013 19:07

Hi,
wow so many responses already! I don't mind travelling a bit, I'm in Ealing but I remember (you're going to laugh at this) when I was living in Pimlico and I used to go to a lovely hairdresser down the road from me but obviously things have moved on since then and to be honest I haven't been to a decent hairdresser since that many years ago! Goodness i sound like a hopeless case, don't I?
Hmm, I better get down to Gt Portland St quick smart but Kindlemum, anyone in Hammersmith would be good too.
Please share reviews ladies, thank you.

Well, on the corner of Lillie Road and Fulham Palace Road, easily reached from Hammersmith Tube, is the Beauty Tree, SW6. Tom there is fantastic. I have absolutely rubbish hair. It is fine and lifeless and will not hold a blow-dried style for more than about 10 minutes and can't take "product" as it just weighs it down. Tom is fabulous - styles that I am happy with and that completely take into account what my hair can do and what I want to do and how much (how little!) time I am willing to spend on it. He really knows what he's doing and he actually listens to what you ask for and if he doesn't think what you want will work, he discusses it properly with you. My pet hate is when you walk out with a haircut completely different to what you expected. Best hairdresser I've ever had. I will cry if he disappears!

armagh · 19/03/2013 16:03

Turnip do tell us how you got on and how much. Please.

Hello! Right, £38 for a wash and blow dry with a senior stylist. Nice salon, trendy but friendly, relaxed staff. Some of the clientele were quite beautiful people (myself not included Wink) but it was spacious and everyone was minding their own business.

I had Sarah, really liked the way she did my hair, we hadn't met before but we chatted throughout and she asked how I styled my hair etc but did not try to sell any products. She made recommendations for products she thought I would like or would work for me, that they didn't sell in store.

Not sure if I would have my hair cut there because the prices are a little dear and I am happy with where I go to, but the other ladies having their hair done were coming away with nice cuts and beautiful colour. They also make good coffee and I had a nice head massage when my hair was being washed.

armagh · 20/03/2013 12:35

Thank you Turnip. Is £38 average for a blow dry in London? That's €50 !

shopafrolic · 20/03/2013 12:42

Tim Fursedonn Toni & Guy Gloucester Road - amazing. Does the hair for a lot of London Fashion Week shows and is just brilliant.
