I'm 5.1 and a typical pear shaped 16.

I have no idea what I should be wearing to suit my shape on my bottom half.

I'm looking for some good basics including shoes.

Currently I have 2 pairs of high waisted skinny jeans which probably look shit and one pair of mum boots. (honestly, that's the sum of my wardrobe) These were not thought about purchases - very much off the cuff/oh look they fit buys.

I need to sort myself out. It seriously can't get worse! But where should I start?

what styles should I be looking for or avoiding apart from skinnies ?

Please take pity on a poor style challanged EARLY 30 something....

I am a fat hourglass and wear skinnies. They are great if you have half decent legs with a tunic top for general day wear.

I know tunics get the mumsy label on here but they are practical and most people wear them well, aim for mid thigh.

A line skirts suit everyone, I wear with a short sleeved top and cardi to hide the mumtum.

Empire line can go either way ime, jersey empire makes me look pregnant. Firmer fabrics can be flattering. Thin layers, so t shirt, thin knit cardi, scarf, can hide a multitude of sins.

Straight leg jeans can be surprisingly flattering. When you say mum boots do you mean ankle or knee high?

tunic

cardigan

scarf

Yjos type of thing. I won't be offended if this is not your type of thing btw Smile

This not Yjos!

Ohh thanks! I do like my skinnies to be honest. Just think they may me look shorter probably.

I like the idea of some tunics though. Thanks for the links.

I have ankle boots and they have seen better days so I need to replace them but not sure what with? It's apparently not going to be winter for much longer right? SO boots won't get the wear I guess.
