Help! What colour tights can I wear with a cream skirt to a wedding?

I want to wear a knee length lace cream skirt to a wedding (with a pale pink top).

I need tights though as i have a sticky-out vein on one leg. Would coloured tights be a no no? I'm thinking black would look daft but beige ones prob won't hide vein. Please can someone give me some ideas?

You're stuck with nude ones I think. Anything darker will just look odd. Have you tried the Sally Hansen leg cover up spray thingy? I have awful stretch marks on the back of my knees and this does a decent job of covering them up

Trouble is they're bobbly as well as blue. So they stick out of tights as well. Black ones hide the sticky-out-ness a bit. But I know what you mean, I think I'd look daft with anything but nude ones.

Wondering if there are nude tights that would compress enough as well as cover - but they would have to be very firm support ones to stop the bobble. Bloody veins!

would 40 denier nude do the job?

60 denier tan

expensive 70 denier cashmere

Nude (micro) fishnets? The kind Beyonce and professional dancers wear? (Seems to hold their jiggling thighs in, so should work for veins) Grin

I have the same issues too. But I'm dark skinned so finding nude sheer tights is a right PITA. M&S normally do a good range though that hold them in quite well. You can always apply a bit of concealer/foundation over offending area before putting tights on too if you need to ton down the blue-ness. MAC face and body foundation is meant to be good for legs too.

If you're wearing a pale pink top I'd wear pink ballet tights (70 or 80 denier). They should be thick enough to hide the vein. Dancedirect do some reasonably priced ones.

couldn't you just wear knee high boots with nude fishnets?

birdies · 17/03/2013 16:27

Thanks everyone. I would wear nude fishnets I think. Do you know where to buy them from?

I don't think knee high boots would work with this outfit. TBH it used to bother me a lot, but I now don't worry as I think no one is really going to spend ages examining my calves at a wedding!

MooMinCow · 17/03/2013 16:31

Try EBay, MyTights.com or Accessorize used to sell them.

soaccidentprone · 17/03/2013 17:04

these?

MrsShrek3 · 17/03/2013 17:09

I wear tan dance tights (dancer, ancient) and they cover everything and even manage to look glamorous and shiny. dancers' legs aren't pretty Wink if you avoid the scary tan barber doll look and go for one of the light (aka normal persons) shades they'll look nice. Will get you a link in a mo if someone hasn't already Smile

MrsShrek3 · 17/03/2013 17:10

barbie doll, obv ...not barber

birdies · 17/03/2013 18:27

The Jonathan Aston ones look lovely but I can still imagine the vein will show through.

Yes please if you can find the link for the dancers tight

Chocolate brown, with same colour heels.

MrsShrek3 · 17/03/2013 18:35

dance tights

soaccidentprone · 17/03/2013 21:14

any of these?

ceres · 17/03/2013 23:21

tbh i don't think fishnets would look right with a lace skirt. and dark tights would def look odd with cream and pale pink.

you need support/compression tights.

have a look here www.leg-care.co.uk/store/cms-display/splash.html

if you go for pale/skintone tights you could always use leg make up to hide the colour of the vein and the compression tights should hide the sticky-out-ness.

Thanks. Looking at the outfit again I think I've definitely got to go for beige/nude tights. So I'm going to try to cover up the blue colour with MAC stuff and order some of the Elbeo compression tights. They sound hideous but look ok in the picture.

Thanks for all your help :)

To cover up the blue, pat concealer on, and then take a red lipstick and dab a bit of that on too - it sucks the blue tone out.

birdies · 18/03/2013 19:25

Really?! I'm going try try that tomorrow! If it works I'm going to wish I'd known that 10 years ago....

You need a really red lippy - I have a keloid scar on my arm, and the lovely lady on the Mac counter showed me how to do this when I thought I needed just really dense concealer. This way its only a small amount to reduce the appearance hugely. And weirdly, the right lippy was also the perfect red on my lips
