Ok grown up skirt suits

Haven't bought a suit for five years and have big job interview in 2 weeks. Always wore trouser suits in past. Where is good nowadays and not frumpy? Feel free to throw in shirt/accessories as haven't done this in ages. Am 5'9 and size 12 (10 in vanity sizing). Can't be too short!

Depending on budget I would look at the fine wool range in Jigsaw for good quality well tailored suits in a classic but not frumpy style or Reiss for good quality more fashion driven suits.

Depends on budget but Austin Reed worth a look, esp in sale. I'd also suggest a dress + jacket rather than skirt suit.

I would second Austin Reed. They have fantastic dresses as well.

Austin Reed seems a bit scary - am not sure I am grown up enough for that! What are their sizings like? I love reiss for jumpers and things so might head there too. Last time I went into jigsaw the quality was awful. Has it got better? Am off to look tomorrow.

Austin Reed is accurate for its sizing and if you're petite (like me) even better. Jigsaw, I haven't bought there in years because if you get stuff reduced at AR its the same as full price Jigsaw.

? Banana republic ?

NorkilyChallenged · 17/03/2013 15:20

Austin Reed was def vanity sizing in dresses for me, my dress from there is a size 10 (am usually a definite 12). sale price there at least same as full price Jigsaw if not less as someone said

thegrandsophy · 17/03/2013 15:49

Well tried on the jigsaw fine wool suits. A) they are enormous - 10 biggish on me and I am def a true 12. B) they are a bit too dull/lawyer ish . Will try some dress suits tomorrow like NorkilyChallenged suggested. Think they might be a little more me. Am going to venture to AR.

And the winner for possibly the dullest thread ever is...Austin Reed. Thank you all for the recommendation. Would never have gone in otherwise! I got a dress and matching jacket jacket. www.austinreed.co.uk/fcp/product/austinreed/Dresses/Luxury-for-Less-Black-Dress/10747. The dress was knee length on me (I am nearly 5'10) and I fitted a 10 which I don't believe but much nicer than Jigsaw, Hobbs, Ted Baker, Reiss and LK Bennett. Next step shoes....

Oh super!.Smile I have quite a few dresses and suits from AR, quality is fab, and they feel great.

NorkilyChallenged · 18/03/2013 19:30

Yay! Grin. really glad you found something, I think AR is a bit of a hidden gem (esp in sale). good luck for the interview. lovely patent nude heels in Clarks today Wink
