DH's work has a table at a very formal industry do and I have no idea what to wear

I don't really do dresses but I'm guessing I can't get away with trousers so I don't really know where to start.

From talking to some of the other wives they're all wearing full length long evening posh frocks

I have no shoes or anything so need the whole shebang

And not too many £££, I'm not likely to wear it again

I'm about 5 foot 6 size 8/10 (nearer 10), pretty straight up and down (was at the back of the queue when boobs were handed out).

Oh, and no sharp stiletto heels

How about something like this?

Stylish without being OTT

I'm not sure if it's formal enough to be honest

Everyone I've spoken to is wearing stuff like this

www.coast-stores.com/patience-maxi/v&a-ballgowns-collection/coast/fcp-product/2213163041

www.coast-stores.com/cecily-maxi/v&a-ballgowns-collection/coast/fcp-product/2213163210

I'm not up for spending the best part of a grand on a dress for a night out.

I quite like this

But don't have the boobs to put in it. I can't wear strapless, I spend half my time hauling it back up

Would a website like this be any good?

LittlePandaBear · 16/03/2013 15:20

House of Fraser have lots in Clearance, how about something like this?

Also, have you read the bra threads, as if your strapless bra falls down then it's likely that you're wearing a back band that is too big for you...

If you find the dress we can then find the shoes! Smile

Have you thought of hiring. It is cheaper and greener if you won't wear it again. Lots of options. I like this from girlmeetsdress but there are pages of options for black tie events from about £50

I was going to say house of Fraser too, more choice and more grown up than Debenham's, which are a bit bridesmaid, teen prom.

I'm a womanly 16 and have a nice formal dress from Cheltenham one.

Thank you!

I'll have a trawl through those websites and see what I can find.
