Would you wear a statement necklace to an interview?

It's a middle managerial role and the necklace is similar to this, to be worn with a black suit and nude/taupe heels?

Personally I would not wear a necklace like that to an interview. Last interview I had was a fortnight ago and I wore a pearl necklace and pearl stud earrings. It was at a (fairly conservative) bank, though.

As someone who interviews every day, I would say no but does depend on the industry. It can be quite distracting and you want the interviewer to focus on what you are saying. Lovely necklace though!

Sounds like a really great grown-up outfit with a bit of added interest from the necklace which will make you stand out a bit.

In my field - the arts, culture, heritage then yes, absolutely. It's not actually all that 'statement-y' compared to some of the jewellery we see.

I always thought a good tactic was to wear something distinctive to interview - a bold colour cardi or scarf - then if there are many applicants its easier for the interviewers to recall you in discussions.

It isn't a creative industry but neither is it in a stuffy environment either. In the office where I currently work, statement necklaces are very much the trend amongst the senior female directors.

I think statement is fine but if that one is sparkly, as it looks , not for an interview. If it was 'matte' IYKWIM though would be OK.

Maybe in a media or arty type designer job but otherwise no. But saying that I quite like it.

Definitely depends on the industry.

I work in IT and have literally never interviewed another woman. If I did and she wore that necklace (even though I'm sure it'd be fab for a party) I would be thinking 'WTF'.

It isn't that sparkly - it is more a glass than a crystal effect. I guess I just wanted to lift my black suit which can look staid. I think you'd be shocked then by the outfits worn in a lot of IT consultancy companies then!

Your outfit sounds great and a necklace would certainly add something - just not one like that. It's too dressy/night out.

We have used lots of IT consultancies, suebfg. Everyone sent to our site has been male. Honestly - I can think of no exceptions to this rule except a friend of mine who now works at one of them after we've ceased to use them.

Some of them have very flowery shirts if that helps

I would wear it, I totally agree about wearing something memorable. Guess it depends on the job really, and if you feel confident and comfortable wearing it. You don't want to be worrying about it during your interview.
