Help me accessorize this dress for a big birthday party please?

It's my 50th soon and I've got this dress for a night in a posh hotel and a party at home and I'm in two minds whether or not to send it back, I think with the right accessories it could stop being a day dress and be sensational

For - It looks better on me than on the model! Seriously, I'm a 14 and shorter than her and it hangs really well and is just a bit longer on me, it's very flattering over my lumps and bumps. The colour suits me, I got 20% off, I don't often wear dresses but it seemed the right occasion to wear a proper frock. I could get away with wearing it for work so will get my money's worth - if I got a party type dress it would hang in the wardrobe for a year or so then go in a charity bag.

Against - I could get away with wearing it for work - dear God, is this what I want to say about a dress for my 50th?

So, whaddya reckon? Sensational accessories?

I love that dress! What do you need to go with it? Heels or flats? Handbag?

You could bling it up with metallics or I love that colour green with a contrasting blue/cobalt colour.

Having done further Pinterest research (can you tell I'm stuck on sofa with ill dc) I think metallic is the way to go. Do you suit gold or silver best?
