Not sure if this is the right place to post - Nice candle ideas?

I have recently accidentally smashed a candle at my son's godmother's house. She was very nice about it and would not accept my offer to buy a new one. It was all swept away before I could see what kind it was and she won't tell me. But I suspect it was something really nice like diptyque. I'd like to buy her a replacement but to be honest I just can't afford diptyque (it was a big one). I know this makes me sound horrendously cheap and awful and I know of course one should operate on a system of 'you break it you buy it' but we are very strapped at the moment. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice midrange candle brand? Or maybe something else lovely for the home that I could get her as a sorry?

You can buy smaller Diptyque candles for twenty quid-which I know is still pricey but she may prefer to a larger cheaper one.

TK Maxx often have a good selection of scented candles in- not Diptyque but some good brands and reasonably priced. Other than that I like white company ones and they are about £20, or the orla kiely diffuser sticks are quite nice.

Yankee candles have some nice scents

YY to TKMaxx for candles. They have some Parks ones which were £5.99 for a medium sized ones. Can't remember what the RRP is but I think they're a more upmarket brand and they smell lovely.

Or have a look at Arran Aromatics, they smell lovely.

YYY to TK Maxx - my local branch had some 3 wick Parks candles reduced from £40 to £12.99 and a few Urban Apothecary ones for the same sort of price.

Failing that, John Lewis sell Kew Gardens candles - not that cheap but still a bit cheaper than Diptyque, and the Fig and Hyacinth ones are lovely.

Molton Brown,White Co or Jo Malone.Maybe Linea(own brand) at House of Fraser How much are Diptyque?

Just googled the price! I wouldn't try and replace it but buy something of equal quality....just smaller - more of a gesture.
It says that you appreciate that you have broken it and are sorry but I don't think you need to actually replace it.
