Where do you buy your knitwear from??

Simple, really. I've spent the last 6 months trying to invest in some nice jumpers and cardis for layering and so far none have come up to scratch.

I want something that keeps its shape, is wool or a decent mix and fits well.

So far

Uniqlo - 2 jumpers and a cardi in December. One jumper has a hole in the sleeve (3wears max) the other looks dreadful and the cardi feels awful.
GAP jumpers just feel rubbish in the shops, lots of acrylic.
H&M - same.
COS - 1 jumper and 2 knitted dresses, jumper is OK but bobbly and the two dresses look old only after a few wears or washes.
Zara - a few items from here, but totally hit or miss.
Benetton - wool polo neck, hand washed and shrunk to unwearable after 1 wash.

I always follow the wash instructions, wash with wool liquid and dry anything on a flat drier over the bath (old gimmer)

So where would you recommend? I'm after simple v necks and cardigans that last and feel like wool.

Thanks! X

I've come to the conclusion that there are some things I can buy budget, and they still look pretty good (plain t-shirts, some work clothes - astonished how good primark work wear looks - and jeans) and there are some things that are false economy. I have bought lots of cheap ish jumpers and cardis in my time, and have now given up and decided to invest a little more (influenced by my Phase Eight jumper which is years old, worn to death frequently, looks great and hasn't bobbled at all).

Woolovers are excellent - all natural fibres, merino, cashmere and silk, and washes well. Lots is very old-fashioned but they have a huge range including more modern stuff, and basic classics. I have this and it's gorgeous.

Or M and S, especially the men's pure lambs wool jumpers which I've been buying since uni days! About £30 iirc and super cosy, you can style them up with jewellery or a scarf.

Superdry - expensive but nice and they do wash & wear very well.

Boden is good- my one cardi from there is about 7 years old and still going strong. it says hand wash but it goes in the machine.
