Help me decide on a new hairstyle now I'm nearly 40!

I'm thinking my current hairstyle isn't doing me any favours. I've got very thick, brown slightly wavy hair. At present (and since I can remember!) it's just below my shoulder, with some layers cut in around my face which are about 2 inches shorter.

So, what should I do with it?

I'm lucky in that I don't have to spend much time on my hair, so want an 'easy' style. I don't want short hair, but don'tmind it being a little shorter, and I'm considering a fringe.

Can anyone give me any pointers. At present I just feel it washes me out!

Can you ask a stylist to show you different ways of wearing it perhaps? like up in a twist? Is that something that appeals. Cutting it off might be a bit drastic but re-stying may lead you there more gradually, iyswim.

A fringe is a bloody nightmare in my experience, needs doing at least once a day and never really sits right in wavy hair.
I think your hair sounds great very like mine and at 37 I'm keeping it.

i have similar hair and think a fringe doesn't really work with thick wavy hair.
