Double wear=powdered orange...what next?

So I had such high hopes for DW! Alas smooth and dewy I am not, powdery open pored mess I am! It sits in my pores and I'm all dry looking.
That's after moisturiser and primer!

So what's next? I want dewy and flawless or any where near that please?!

Do you exfoliate before you apply it? Smooth and dewy needs fresh soft skin HTH xx

I have used DW and is fine until I have used half of the bottle then becames very dry and powdery, a realy not a good look. Now I have tried normal foundation and light dusting of loose powder on top and is much better.

I am surprised! I have very dry skin and I do have loads of pores but I never have that problem with DW! I do apply a thick layer and on the pores of my nose I put on a second coat. A light dusting of either mac or No7 powder applied very sparingly with my huge MAC brush and the finish is very natural and flawless despite the thick foundation layers.

Maybe go back to the counter and ask them to show you how much and how to apply?

Have you tried dw light? Dw goes well on my skin but on a friend's it turns orange.

Application is key with double wear. It looked horrendous on me until I started applying it very sparingly (just put my finger over the bottle and tip it up so a small amount is on my finger) and then smooth it over with my fingers, rather than a brush. Add a tiny amount more over areas that need it. Then it looks quite natural.

Otherwise, Diorskin Nude is very nice and quite long lasting.

DW made me orange also.

Doublewear makes me look like a 75-year-old, powdery golf ball. It makes my pores look like craters.

I was so bloody disappointed with it.

I'm scrubbing, I've ordered glycolic acid and I WANT dewy!!

I find the L'oreal Infallible foundation with the brush is quite good but not quite enough coverage.

Am a foundation junkie,have Chanel mat lumiere,Diorskin Forever,Revlon Colourstay,Boots Stay perfect on go at moment.
Have used Double Wear in past,great for staying power but makes me a bit flat looking.
Am liking the No 7 Stay Perfect actually.

I was shown how to apply it, I've tried more, less.
It just doesn't seem to work on me damn it!

Flat was a good word and an old lady- me too! I don't want to look older, my DC do a brilliant job of ageing me as it is!

Double Wear doesn't have a dewy finish - it's a full coverage foundation with a fairly matt finish. I love it, but it is very flat looking - I have bad skin so I need the cover and have to put up with the 'I've been painted in matt emulsion' look.

For dewy but good cover, I think Chanel Vitalumiere is good but generally I don't use that type of foundation as I don't have good enough skin to go for dewy. Alternatively you can always use a light reflecting product to make your skin look dewy, rather than trying to get that effect from the foundation itself. This is lovely for adding a bit of reflection to cheekbones etc.

Healthy mix foundation by bourjois definitely worth a go. I use a skin oil on its own or before moisturiser, that helps for a dewy look.

Double wear is defo heavy matt. Dewy is YSL Teint éclat

Ellis Faas gives the most beautiful soft finish and lasts surprisingly well.

Puddle - you're not the only one. EL DW is very ageing on me, plus it oxidises (turns orange) and emphasises pores. It is very old tech foundation that looks very made up and it add years to the face. Just looking at the lovely but raddled looking EL sales ladies tells that story. I've had good results from MUA Matte Foundation at £2 a tube. Yes, really. It is NOT matte but if you put a bit of Smashbox Photoset finishing powder over it, it will be matte. I leave the undereye and cheek area unpowdered for a dewy look in those areas. It's very very good, doesn't look "makeuppy" on the skin and actually lasts all day and all night. I am shocked that a cheap foundation could be so good. If you can't face cheap, or want SPF, the Bobbi Brown oil free Foundation (Long wear even finish) is excellent at minimising pores and giving a soft focus look. It is much much more youthful looking than wretched hardface ELDW. Mind you, I am sorely tempted by the YSL, but I know it'll fall off my oily t-zone in a hour .

Really I think as skin changes with age (arggh) it's good to keep changing products to suit, it's easy to think "oh well this is OK", not realising there are far better products out there. Also, foundation technology is improving all the time. Using the same product for 5 years was a mistake for me, so I'm making more effort to try different products and I look less made up and younger/fresher for it. I also have a cupboard shelf groaning with dozens of products :-(
