Size 18 and 5'2. I have a wedding in 6 weeks. It's doing my head in looking at dresses.

Previously I have tended to go for floaty, floral things but am craving a more polished, grown up look.

I'm 36, pale, brown hair & eyes.

Budget £80 - £100 for the right dress.

I have a few ideas but would love to see if anyone suggests similar.

Thanks

Thanks SirToffee, I was starting to think I'd been abandoned by S&B Grin

I like that one and it is similar to one I was looking at earlier here

this is a flattering cut and has sleeves. Red shoes, white bag and sorted.

octopal · 12/03/2013 16:35

MrsLettuce - that is a lovely dress. I am biggest round my middle though so not sure wrap style flatters or draws attention to it.

I saw that one when I was shopping earlier (have a wedding to go to in May and am rather desperately searching for the right thing...) and thought it looked lovely on the hanger. I think the detailed wrap section and slightly puffed shoulders will focus the eye upward and help balance any middle bits you've got issues with. As someone with the same issues, I've got a similar black Coast dress that seems to do all that, anyway.

Speaking of Coast, this was by far the most flattering dress I tried on today, but I hesitated to recommend it as I'm not sure if black is universally ok for a wedding? Hope it is for my sake! Grin

I am the same size and height as you. I have this but in black.

I look and feel great in it. I added a coloured belt to lift it that matched my shoes! And I regularly get 20% off codes for m and co, if y go for it let me know and I'll send you a code.

Glaikit · 12/03/2013 17:56

Sirtoffee that dress is lovely, and perfect for a wedding IMHO. Black was the colour of choice at our wedding looking back! I couldn't give a stuff what the guests were wearing!

octopal · 12/03/2013 18:35

Glaikit I love, love that M and Co dress. I saw it linked on a thread here but it was sold out at the time. I think I would go for navy rather than black.

What is the sizing like? I wear a 16 on the bottom but am top heavy - I wear an 18-20 on top, a 38 F bra.

OP posts:
Glaikit · 12/03/2013 18:45

I ordered an 18 and a 20 because of my large norkage, but sent the 20 back. I'm a 38g for comparison!

It was probably me who linked to it before because I love it! Let me know of y want a code. I get them sent ever Friday by text, they are very annoying but I can't seem to unsubscribe!

Glaikit · 12/03/2013 18:46

Actually, are you me?? We sound exactly alike except I am unnaturally blonde, with blue eyes!

octopal · 12/03/2013 18:50

What do you do about a bra with it? I don't think I can get away with strapless - that's going to be a problem, isn't it?

OP posts:
Glaikit · 12/03/2013 18:56

I wore a nude bra and you could only see it if you really looked. But I have a strapless with clear straps that don't slice through your shoulders!

7to25 · 12/03/2013 19:10

My daughter tried on that dress, it was beautiful but she had to size down from a 16 to a 14 and they didn't have the 14 in stock.

octopal · 12/03/2013 19:21

I'm going to go for the M&Co dress in navy.

I really like it and tbh I can't be bothered to think about it any more. The price is good too.

Yay!

octopal · 12/03/2013 19:34

Glaikit I sent you a PM.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Good choice, I'm sure you'll look great Smile (btw cheers, glaikit, for the black dress at a wedding thumbs up, makes me feel confident about getting one like that)

HavingAnOffDAy · 14/03/2013 13:55

I luuuurve the M&Co dress - it's gorgeous!

I'm going to order one

Would you go for the navy, to wear with nude tights & some beautiful teal platforms/heels

Or black & wear with these

Or am I thinking along the wrong lines entirely? Confused

It's to wear on a girls night out. I'm 35, 5'4'' & size 14. Blonde & fair if that helps?

Thanks!

Glaikit · 14/03/2013 17:14

I would go for the navy now, but it wasn't available when I bought the black before Christmas.

HavingAnOffDAy · 14/03/2013 19:35

Thanks Glaikit, the navy does appeal as black is sometimes a bit harsh on me

HavingAnOffDAy · 21/03/2013 12:44

My lovely M&Co dress arrived yesterday & I love it! It's gorgeous Grin

My daughter saw me trying it on last night & told me I looked like I was in my twenties in it - a good result I think!
