Grey hairs - how do you dye yours?

I've haven't dyed my hair since I was a teenager, but since stopping bfing DS3 I'm suddenly sprouting loads of silvery hair. DH and DS1 (5) have commented on it today Shock, so I'm thinking it's time to do something to stop me looking so knackered.

What do other people do?

Is it best to go to a salon (would have to find the time and money) or are over-the-counter ones okay? Can anyone recommend a brand?

Btw, my hair is dark brown.

Have unfortunately inherited grey hair from my lovely Pa so have been dying it since mid 20s (now late 30s). I go to hairdressers to get colour done every 8-10 weeks (sometimes longer) and do a Clairol Root Touch Up at home as often as I need to - usually 3-4 weeks at the outside. Easy to do and blends very well with my dark brown hair. Just paint the roots with the brush, and then leave it on for 15mins & wash off, can't go wrong!

I went grey early too and have been dyeing my hair for years (early 40s). Always went to the hairdresser to have it dyed (I'm dark brown too), but now I dye my hair at home, with the help of my DM. I use Clairol Nice and Easy natural dark reddish brown. DM does a great job and I save pounds!!

I go to the hairdressers and she uses a semi-permanent on me. Needs doing every 6 weeks or so but leaves my hair in fabulous condition! My hairdresser is v cheap though!
