We are going to an 80th birthday party on Sunday afternoon.

I am pretty clueless about style and beauty and there are only males in the house who have given me three different opinions on the outfits!!

Which one should I wear?

Stripey or flowery? Boots or pumps?

Flowery and pumps Smile

cluelessnchaos · 08/03/2013 22:03

I prefer stripey with pumps but I think you are hiding your figure too much

EeyoresGloomyPlace · 08/03/2013 22:03

Flowery with pumps looks nicest for a birthday bash IMO.

Have a nice time whatever you decide on :)

PoppyAmex · 08/03/2013 22:04

Hi maw - I like the stripey jumper with the boots, but would it be appropriate for the party? How formal is it?

Catrin · 08/03/2013 22:04

Flowery with pumps. If your name is in any way a clue and you are in Scotland, your feet may be cold though! But I think that is the outfit which goes together best.

CryptoFascist · 08/03/2013 22:05

Flowery with pumps for the afternoon. Boots look nice but more suitable for shopping than a party.

The striped one doesn't co-ordinate with black, too contrasting.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 08/03/2013 22:05

Flowery & pumps

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 08/03/2013 22:05

Another vote for flowery and pumps!

piratecat · 08/03/2013 22:05

like the dress with the pumps, and you have great legs (what i can see of them!), do you have any tights, because I'd be showing them off a bit.

pepperrabbit · 08/03/2013 22:06

I like flowery with pumps - but it's going to be freezing on Sunday which means I'd be wearing boots!

mawbroon · 08/03/2013 22:06

Oh wow! That was quick, thanks for the replies. Poppy it's not terribly formal, mostly just DHs family I think.

Flowery and pumps for me too. Enjoy!

Cotapaxi · 08/03/2013 22:07

Flowery with pumps, you have a lovely figure! It may be cold though so I would check if the venue is hot or not Grin!

mawbroon · 08/03/2013 22:09

It will be freezing, yes we are in Scotland! But it's just a quick run from the car to the venue. I have a simmit which I will wear underneath to keep me warm Grin

Have you recently lost weight? You seem to be dressing for a much larger person than you are! You need something more fitted imo. A teadress with no leggings underneath would look lovely with your figure. Show it off!

peachypips · 08/03/2013 22:12

Yes, flowery and pumps. I agree that you could wear more fitted clothes- you are slim. Don't hide!!!!! I'm envious!

QuickLookBusy · 08/03/2013 22:13

I agree, you are covering up too much.

I actually prefer the flowery with boots, but the pumps do look nice as wellSmile

rootypig · 08/03/2013 22:14

both lovely, but defo pumps not boots. have a great time!

Snog · 08/03/2013 22:15

Flowery and pumps

mawbroon · 08/03/2013 22:16

BlushBlush at the compliments. Yes, I have lost a lot of weight (through being ill unfortunately). The flowery one is actually kind of fitted at the waist, it just doesn't really look it in the pictures.

And it's way better than the other dress that didn't make the cut which made me look like a sack o' tatties Grin

mawbroon · 08/03/2013 22:17

So, is the stripey one just wrong then? Will I take it back to the shop for a refund or does it have potential?

OP posts:
QuickLookBusy · 08/03/2013 22:19

Hope you are on the mend now mawbroon.

I think you should take the stripy one back and buy something a bit shorter and more fitted. If you've got it flaunt it!

Grockle · 08/03/2013 22:20

Flowery and pumps. But not black leggings unless the top has black in it too. If not, I'd try to get leggings/ tights in a colour that complements the dress.
