I was thinking a dress and a jacket? Is black okay?

Your own graduation? Mine specified black skirt and white shirt and I went along with it but I soooo wish I hadn't. Lots of people went with some lovely dresses and heels under their gowns and looked great.

No, my son's.

My graduation letter also suggested a dark skirt and white blouse - but I wore a red dress, and it looked really nice under the black gown.
If you mean someone else's graduation, then dress and jacket is fine - black a bit funereal though? Anything smart will do.

Thank you :) I don't know about the black, because I would wear it to a wedding but I'm not sure if it's acceptable here!

Dress and jacket definitely okay.

Ideally the jacket would have a pocket for a sneaky hipflask while you watch all the other people's children get graduated.

I am not allowed alcohol, I'll be enough of an emotional wreck sober Blush Grin

Thank you!

Anything smart is fine. Though I woudl avoid black if you have an alternative outfit as all the graduates will be in black too

I presume you and DH are still married? My parents aren't, and my mum and step mum turned up at my sister's graduation in the same Dorothy Perkins frock. Shock That was such a good moment, and looked so noticeable on the photos Grin

Seriously though, try and get something from a smaller independant shop rather than a big chain store to reduce the chances of turning up in the same outfit as another mum.

Yes still married Grin I can only imagine how bad/funny that was!

I never thought of that KristinaM, thank you!
