What clothes to buy when pregnant?

I'm feeling down and want to pop to the shops later to treat myself to a new outfit. I'm 12 weeks pregnant so will grow vastly!

What sort of clothing is it safe to buy when pregnant and what to totally avoid?

I'm thinking, safe:
Poncho/cape type things
Jersey roomy dresses
Baggy jersey tops
Roomy knitwear

Not safe:
Silk or cotton with no stretch
Trousers

Jackets?

Maternity jeans
Leggings
Maxi dresses
Tunics
Big knickers and comfy bras. You WILL want and need these by the time we have some hot weatherWink

I am nearly 12wks pregnant but massively showing already. I am living in leggings & cardigans at the moment. Also want to find some nice skinny jeans, coupld of skirts for summer, swimming costume/bikini, vest tops, couple of dresses mainly for holidays. With 1st child I was still in my normal jeans at this point but no chance this time round!Blush

Ah yes I need bras but I'm a 30gg already and live in Spain where d cups are unheard of so will get online for those!

Maternity jeans ordered.

Maxi dresses, I looked for one in zara and mango t'other day and there were none, I'd love a black, all-purpose one. Are they no longer 'in'?

I have put on 11lbs already and am only 11.5wks Angry I have eaten loads though a) due to thinking 'I am pregnant, I can eat what I like Blush and b) feeling so sick all the time, eating is the only thing that helps! I am going to be HUGE!! Last time I was at my biggest in the Autumn/Winter so could hide under winter clothes, not this time though! Will check out the ASOS skinny jeans. I have seen some nice things - mainly dresses, only the seraphine website which I am going to order once I have had 12wk scan. I had an early scan at 8wks to check whether it was twins as was showing even then (it isnt, phew!!)

Topshop maternity have a black maxi dress.

Do you work in an office? If so, I'd suggest a few tops and trousers (under bump ones come with adjustable waistbands - in late pregnancy you will want over bump or leggings if you get as enormous as I do) /skirts or dresses for work, some jeans/leggings and tops for the weekends and if you exercise some maternity suitable work out gear.

In the UK Asos, Seraphine, Topshop, H&M all have good selections (online for all in shops too for Topshop and H&M). Isabella Oliver good for office wear (online) - is expensive but lots sold on Ebay. Not sure if you can get those in Spain but if you can, would look there first.

My workplace is casual so I'm lucky to be able to wear jeans with no problems. Ill hopefully just manage with the one pair as its going to get hot in the summer here. I have 2 jersey maxis already and some cotton empire line dresses I hope will do. I just need some stuff for the in between stage in the spring! Thanks for the eBay tip, ill check there!

I have bought very few actual maternity items so far, just some trousers. Otherwise wearing normal stretchy dressed and tops - have been buying ones with ruched sides, so even though they're not meant as maternity clothes, there's still plenty of room.

I'm 25 weeks, so not too massive yet. But the dresses and tops I've bought so far seem to have still quite a bit of room.
