Since DD was born (8 years ago) I have never worn trousers, only dresses and skirts.

I'm a size 12-14 on my bottom half, very pear shaped, and am very aware of my bum, thighs and podgy tum!
I haven't got a clue where to start - what style should I go for? Help me!

I didn't wear trousers or jeans for many years when I was growing up - mainly for religious reasons - women were discouraged from wearing them and my mother didn't own any until she was in her mid 40s.

I started to wear them in my early 20s and this time of the year live in them both at work and at home.

Have you worn trousers in the past?

You don't mention if you need them for work or at home. I would suggest that you spend some time trying on some different styles in the High Street to see what suits you and how they feel. When you get an idea you could then buy on line if that is what you prefer or make a purchase there and then.

I would suggest you avoid skinnies and go for wider legs. You could hide your bum with a longer top of some discription if you are self conscious. For jeans, I always go for levis - they have lots of different styles - not the cheapest but good quality and mine last for ages.

Let us know how you get on

As a pear shape with no ankles I go for straight leg rather than skinny. I think black jeans or indigo denim is always best.
Same for trousers really-I go for straight leg ones with flats for work and the odd wider leg ones with wedge for evening.
I think something on top that comes half way down your bum helps-I wear soft blazers that do or even longer 'boyfriend' cardigans that cover everything.
