Help! Fashion advice needed for size 16-18. Big night out Saturday

Honestly I just don't feel comfortable in anything right now. Anything with a heel kills my feet after about 15 minutes and I can no longer walk in them. I'm going out Saturday with a group of girls, most of whom are about 4 years younger than me (almost 40). It's going to be a big night out, ending up in a club. What to wear??? I never used to have these traumas but admittedly have put on a lot of weight in last 3 years and don't really go out much anymore due to having young children. I don't want to look mumsy, want to feel attractive but equally can't compete with the size 8 skinny Minnie's I am going out with. Oh god, I shouldn't go should I? Anyone have suggestions? It needs to have long sleeves due to bingo wings and don't have good legs so skinny jeans etc are out! Bugger it, I may as well just get a muu muu and be done with it!

What kind of club is it? Dressy or less formal? And what sort of colours do you prefer? Do you have a budget? Are you happy with dresses/skirts?

dont be silly of course you should go out! confidence is about attitude not dress size.i am a size 16 and always try to make the best of myself.i like full 50,s style dresses or fitted wiggle dresses for going out.flattering on bigger ladies.try lady vintage online. primark have fitted pencil.skirts and peplum tops.add a belt.to define your waist.et voila-sexy lady! have a great time.

Peplums are brilliant for hiding your tummy if you're a bit conscious of it - like me. Have you tried ASOS? They have the Curve range although you maybe too small for that.

what colours suit you?
what necklines do you like?

Me too op I've been a 16 fit two years now and I hate it!,,but I still go out and tend to wear black skinnys with lovely tops in pretty fabrics with pretty necklines. You do need heels really but I can't walk in them for long either so I have a lovely pair of black wedge boots in suede which really elongate my leg. Nice hair n bobs your uncle.
(I feel about size ten after a few drinks anyway)

I guess budget would be about £150 for an outfit. I like black, red, striking colours - not really a pale pink or pastel type of girl. Necklines - I used to like quite low cut but don't really mind either way these days, my décolletage isn't what it once was! I suppose I used to dress quite eclectically, lots of vintage and one off type stuff with high heels but can't dress how I want to any more so am a bit stuck!

My guess is that it will be a club full of young things dressed in next to nothing! I like dresses and skirts but nothing above the knee! I know I'm being silly, just a crisis of confidence....
