Am going to a fortieth birthday party and want to look fab. Have really struggled to find a dress that fits well (am 5 '2, size 8-10) and fits the dress code and season (it's in 2 weeks). The colour of this suits me well and the style is quite forgiving but I don't know how to accessorise it at all. I want to look lovely but not mutton dressed as lamb. Please help me!
(other dress suggestions welcome but note my short stature!)
Thanks!

Stunning dress. I am very jealous. Not sure what you could accessorise with it though sorry

Gold too obvious?

bag 1

bag 2

cuff 1

cuff 2

cuff 3

too matchy? or not quite a match and thus wrong

Prob miles off, but it might encourage other, better ideas

Lovely dress. I would definitely go with a gold (or rose gold) cuff like the 1st one sirtoffee linked with, also a chunky gold watch in the style of Michael Kors one.

Not sure I would add gold bag to the gold jewellery....perhaps something a little less blingy...and what are you thinking re shoes? Gold shoes (but not matching bag) could look good...also what is budget?

Sleepwhenidie · 05/03/2013 13:50

this is a fantastic and very unusual bag, could go with loads of outfits, inlcuding that dress, what do you think? Too out there?

Sleepwhenidie · 05/03/2013 13:52

Similar idea, possibly better colours here?

Sleepwhenidie · 05/03/2013 13:56

Thoughts on these sandals?

herewegoloopyloo · 06/03/2013 15:55

Oh wow! Sorry for delay - had thought no replies! these are great suggestions, thank you. Love the shoes and love, love the watch - but not sure can justify the watch. (Like the rose gold with it, good idea.) However, the kimono clutch bags are gorgeous -just the sort of thing am after.

Not sure if maybe a simple cuff bracelet (cuff 3?) or perhaps a simple but statement necklace - but not sure what would work with that neckline? I quite like bold pieces - not massive but not tiny dainty filigree either. Any suggestions?

Ok - couldn't wear with gold bracelet but what about this?

What do you think about gold dangly earrings rather than a necklace that might fight a bit with the ruched neckline of the dress IYKWIM?

Sleepwhenidie · 06/03/2013 18:18

Ps...without trying to be too bad an influence, you could wear the watch every day, it would end up being best value part of any of the outfit Wink!

herewegoloopyloo · 07/03/2013 17:22

Ah, Sleep.. you may yet persuade me on the watch. Having tried the dress on again, I think you may be right re. the necklace. There is only a 10-15cm 'drop' from top of breast bone to dress neckline so would have to be something v simple, if at all. Will have to look for earrings now...!

I loved the ones you linked btw, just probably a bit much for the dress Smile

herewegoloopyloo · 07/03/2013 17:51

Yes, Probably getting carried away! I have a lovely long thick rope know type necklace that is v simple and chunky which actually works really well with the dress as goes below the dress neckline and is v simple- but it is silver. And would then need to re-think everything else. PLus, I think the rose gold looks better. Sigh.
