Help! 40th birthday party to go to - no idea what to wear

As title says, I've been invited to a fairly fancy 40th birthday (evening) party in three weeks time and I really have no idea what to wear. I might just be able to rustle up some black tights, but that's about it! So, I need a whole outfit. I'm 5 ft 2, size 10 on top, 12 below. My good bits are: shoulders, back and waist. My bad bits are: chunky thighs and calves, wobbly arms and wobbly tummy. I'm hopeless in heels, which isn't going to help, is it? Oh dear. Budget is more Top shop than Reiss.

I'm looking for dresses too and like the look of this from Warehouse but haven't seen it in real life, so it may look awful.

On the other hand, I don't know if a skater dress will be better to cover up my bigger bottom half, or if it will accentuate it.

Oooh, Great Plains interesting - I wouldn't have thought of them at all, and they look like they've got some sale bargains at the moment. What's their sizing like?

Not sure I would be brave enough for the Warehouse one, LittlePanda - objectively, I know my arms aren't huge, but they're just not toned enough that I feel comfortable in anything less than a three quarter length sleeve :)
