If you wear makeup every day, how long do your products last?

I wear makeup nearly every day, albeit fairly minimal - generally mineral foundation, curl my eyelashes, put on some mascara, neaten up my eyebrows, then some blusher and clear lip balm.

I've been using the same pot of No7 mineral blusher for almost four bloody years, even though I'm using it nearly every day. I'm very tightfisted on a bit of a budget, so I can't bear to just throw it out when it still does the job, but I can't help thinking that no one wants to be wearing the exact same makeup every day for four years. I do put enough on so that you can see a glow on my cheeks and it gives me a bit of life, but I'm not painting on massive layers of pink Grin

If it was an eye product I would inevitably have to keep throwing it out and starting again, as I would be afraid of eye infections - I replace my masacara and eyeshadows regularly for this reason.

Is it a big ploy by the cosmetics companies? If they sell a bigger pot, you have to pay more for it, but you won't get to the bottom of it before it goes 'off', so you go back to the shop and buy a big pot all over again?

To clarify, I never get anywhere near the bottom of a tube of mascara, or an eyeshadow, but unlike the blusher I replace them, so I have no idea how long they would actually last if I kept using them until they were finished.

I have no idea. I love trying out new products, so have several of each item on the go at any one time, on rotation.

Foundation - about 6 months
Concealer - 4 months
Blush - bloody ages! I normally get bored and try something new long before its all used.
Eyeshadow - same as blush, especially darker more evening colours
Mascara - 3-4 months
Liquid Liner - 3-4 months - usually dries out by this point
Lipsticks/Glosses - I don't think I've ever finished one, usually get bored and throw away try something new

Also nail varnish normally turns to shite about halfway through a bottle, goes all thick.

all make-up products have preservatives in them and last a lot longer than it says on the tin IMHO, so I tend to use my products until they run out then replace them unless its mascara or lip gloss, then I pay attention to the date on the tin because of the risk of getting an infection etc, oh and I wash my make-up brushes every month...

I've got a Laura merrier secret camoflage (concealer) that I've had since 1996! I use it all the time and its completely fine. I've also got eye shadows that are a similar age - they're bobbi brown and similar type neutrals - no way I'd throw them out! They're totally fine and I like playing around with different looks, so they'll probably be around for many more years yet! I don't hold with this throwing away of makeup lark < tsks >

I've got ancient mascaras as well - and I've never once had so much as a tickle in my eye (not exactly a controlled study, I'll grant you...)

I get through skyline ther quickest. Once every 2-3 months. Most other stuff lasts about 6 months for me at least

Same here.
Can't remember ever using up a product, except lipstick and foundation.
And Strobe cream.
Those Nars multiples - have been using Cap Vert every day for at least 18 months, haven't even used one tenth of it.
Eye shadow - one Shu and one Nars double - probably about 7-8 years, and barely dented.
Getting worried it's too long, might finally replace them..
