Best moisturising lippie or lip gloss please?

I know this is rather mundane but I'm looking for recommendations because every lipstick I've ever tried seems to dry out my lips to one degree or another.
I wear Carmex underneath but my lips still look like shrivelled up prunes after a couple of hours.
I'm of an age where I need some colour on my lips so I'm not happy going without it.
I wondered if a gloss may be better, but I don't like very sticky ones or anything glittery.

Have you tried kiehls lip gloss? Very moisturising.

DrGoogleWillSeeYouNow · 23/02/2013 18:50

I just got a Revlon lip butter lipstick this week. It's pretty good. I've also started slathering my lips in Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream every night before bed too, so that has probably helped.

timidviper · 23/02/2013 18:56

I find moisturising lipsticks and glosses don't last so use ordinary stuff but in the evening moisturise with EA 8hr cream

OrchidFlakes · 23/02/2013 19:03

Avent nipple cream!! I use it overnight and a thin layer under lippie Grin

ornellaia · 23/02/2013 19:10

Benefit lip glosses are really moisturising, and they're not all gloopy and sticky so I don't have to spend all day peeling my hair off my lips.

ujjayi · 23/02/2013 19:16

Chanel lipsticks are very moisturising - even the lipstick-lite Coco Rouge range.

Theas18 · 23/02/2013 19:19

For me it's the no7 protect and perfect lip tube thing.

Expensive at near £10 but at the moment buy £5 of other boots stuff and you'll get a voucher for £5 your lip stuff!

Somethingtothinkabout · 23/02/2013 21:05

Another vote for the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm.

OneMoreGo · 23/02/2013 21:16

Lanolips is tinted and quite nice, Burts bees do tinted lip balms... For me lipsticks seem to either be moisturising and last about 5 mins, or have great staying power but v drying, so I've defected to tinted balms.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 23/02/2013 21:19

Avene cold cream for lips is a brill lip balm (in a tube)

Urban decay lippies have hyaluronic acid, v plumping & moisturising

Sleepyfergus · 23/02/2013 21:23

Agree re tinted balms. The Burts Bees ones are lovely and a good range of colours. I had to get mine online though as struggled to find anywhere that sold them.

Also yy to EA 8 hour lip balm. You can also get tinted ones of those too. Amazon does them I'm sure.

Allthingspretty · 23/02/2013 21:26

Try a lip balm madr from natural ingredients first such as decleor ir m and s pure which is only a fiver. Try clinique butter shine lipsticks

AmazingDisgrace · 23/02/2013 22:05

I like Sleek tinted lip conditioner. I use the Barely There one all the time

boodles · 23/02/2013 22:44

Hurraw lip balm, the night one

SnowBusiness · 24/02/2013 06:53

Dior's Lip Glow is great. Very light tint, which just enhances your natural colour, and great moisturising texture with 15SPF.

mummyonthewedge · 24/02/2013 07:58

I get horrible cracked and peeling lips which lipstick seems to make worse, and the only thing I can wear is Laura Mercier Hydra Tint, which actually improves my lips. The Berry colour is a very natural colour which I wear every day as I am also 'at an age...', and the red colour (can't remember the name) is lovely as well.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 24/02/2013 09:24

Rimmels Kate Moss range of lippies are good. In the black tube- I havnt tried the red ones. They're matte/satin texture & are a good compromise between long wearing and moisturising. I have 08, it's a light pink, very classy colour.

BTW are you exfoliating your lips? You can buy lip scrubs, but I just use a flannel or muslin cloth. Does make a difference.

armagh · 24/02/2013 09:46

Model's Own lip balm is greatWish it were in a tube rather than a pot though as you need a brush. Really soothing with colour.

bloggingvirgin · 24/02/2013 12:49

Rimmels Kate Moss lippie makes my lips so dy and peeling which is a great shame as I bought 2 of the No 3 cos I love the colour.

I have found Clinique Butter Surge great for lips but there is only 1 colour that I like.
