I need a foundation that makes my skin glow

I am 37, with dry skin. Have 2 DCs, work in the city, tired all the time etc etc.

My skin is pretty good, considering, but I need a better foundation. I am quite pale, have lots of lines around my eyes (but I am testing the Estee Lauder eye serum for MN!) and tend to look washed out a lot. I probably need a miracle but am happy to spend ££ whilst waiting.

I have a Space NK and a Boots near work, so one of the brands stocked there would be my preference.

OK, I have a couple of recommendations for you:-

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat foundation. Based on the famous concealer. Fabulous product, makes skin very healthy looking and lasts all day. I have 2 DC- one is 2 and the other is 5 months and it really makes my skin glow
Suqqu Cream foundation- £££ but makes your skin look flawless and healthy. Will be perfect for your dry skin

I have also heard fabulous things about Kevyn Aucoin's sensual skin balm and NARS sheer glow. As you are near a SpaceNK, I suggest you try both of these out in store.

Let us know how you get on x

I use this and it really does smooth over small wrinkles, I feel ten years younger when I've got it on Smile

Sugarice · 22/02/2013 15:52

I love By Terry foundation, it's pricey but fabulous! [in my opinion of course]

3monkeys3 · 22/02/2013 15:52

I have similar skin to you and love benefit oxygen wow foundation.

shoeprincess2 · 22/02/2013 15:53

Ooooh yes, I forgot about the By Terry foundation. So, that's 3 things to try in SpaceNK

AnythingNotEverything · 22/02/2013 15:55

Another vote for ysl touché éclat foundation. It's also layer-able, so you can easily touch up at lunchtime or before a meeting!

HappyAsEyeAm · 22/02/2013 15:59

Thanks for the recommendations. I know what I'll be doing on Monday lunchtime!

YSL Touche Eclat foundation and also the new Lancome Visionaire foundation, which is gorgeous and comes with a built in concealer in the lid so you can get more cover where you need it. I find the Lancome one lasts longer than the YSL one too. Oh, and Diorskin Forever which is also very glowy and beautiful looking.

madmomma · 22/02/2013 18:50

Chanel aqualumiere is beautiful on dry skin.

calypso2008 · 22/02/2013 18:55

YSL touche eclat foundation here too.
Buy soon as apparently they are about to put the price up massively.

It is brilliant and right now I think about 25 pounds - I bought mine in January.

GeorginaWorsley · 22/02/2013 20:45

Does YSL last all day?
I ave oily skin so wouldn't be suitable I dont think

fizzypops · 22/02/2013 21:15

I really really want the touche eclat foundation have heard lots of good things and even more so with this talk of price increase! I did think it was pretty cheap considering price of the concealer Confused anyone know if the shades are suitable for the ghostly pale among us? pale as in the no7 palest shade Calico is a tad orange...

tharsheblows · 22/02/2013 21:23

shoeprincess is suqqu hard to apply? I really want to try it.

I fourth (fifth? lost count) the recommendation for By Terry foundation - I use the Teint Delectation.

ArcticRoll · 22/02/2013 21:33

Maestro by Armani

MarshaBrady · 22/02/2013 21:35

GeorginaWorsley · 22/02/2013 22:13

Am foundation junkie!

Hopeforever · 22/02/2013 22:17

Clinique

My dry skin feels amazing and glows gently without looking false

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 23/02/2013 07:40

Chanel vitalumiere aqua - works really well on my dry skin

Havingkittens · 23/02/2013 09:04

The YSL one does come in some very pale shades, although some of them are strangely pink. The main place I found it came off on me was my nose but that may have more to do with pregnancy rhinitis come to think of it, as I've been pregnant since it first came out and have been blowing my nose a fair bit!

SorrelForbes · 23/02/2013 09:08

I loved the Touché Éclat, Lancôme and the Dior ones but just couldn't get a good enough colour match (very pale but with olive tones). Currently using No.7 Lift and Luminate. I do not use any other No.7 stuff but am surprised by how good this foundation is.

shoeprincess2 · 23/02/2013 09:17

tharsheblows- there is definitely a knack to applying the Suqqu, as too much in one go can make it look a bit "meh". I literally take a small amount and buff into the skin with a stippling brush (Real Techniques do one in Boots for about £11.99). Layer if you want to, but I find one coating is enough. It literally melts into the skin, so you don't look like you have anything on. Priming the skin well is also key to keeping foundation long lasting. After moisturising, leave it for 10 minutes, then apply primer and wait 10 minutes. before applying foundation.

NARS Sheer Glow. Such a nice foundation. You can get it from Space NK.

joliejolie · 23/02/2013 10:50

I use Nars tinted moisturiser (much lighter on my skin than full on foundation) and I mix it half/half with Nars Illuminator.

tharsheblows · 23/02/2013 17:24

Thank you shoeprincess! I have been watching youtube videos for the proper technique now... think I'll give it a go.
