I have olive skin and dark hair. Beige washes me out. BUT I love beige trenches as they are classic and figure I can always wear a scarf in my colours with one.

OR I can simply buy a red trench that I know will suit me.

OR I can buy a navy, but then I love navy chinos and I will look like a twit with navy on navy........

I know its not the end of the world, but I need to BUY one and stop obsessing.
Opinions please!!! Thanks

Buy the red.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/02/2013 23:36

I have similar colouring to you and bought a beige one. I just wear it with scarves. I think it's more adaptable than red might be. However, red sounds good too. Have both!

libertychick · 21/02/2013 23:50

Same here, beige is not my best colour but I always wear my beige trench with a scarf. I have a red winter coat and I am very tired of it after only 3 months of wear and lots of my scarves don't work with it which is rather annoying.
Top tip though - buy a waterproof trench - my one is a heavy cotton version from Gap and it creases a lot and shows watermarks when it rains which looks weird.

SilverSixpence · 22/02/2013 00:00

Any links for nice beige trenches? I'm on the lookout too!

QueenCadbury · 22/02/2013 06:28

I'd go for red if it fits in with the rest of your clothes or beige if not.

liberty any links to waterproof trenches? I really love the new navy gap one but haven't bought it as if we have another wet spring/summer it'll be useless on the school run.

novelsituation · 22/02/2013 07:46

I've just bought this.

I think it's cut really well, but it's not a waterproof one.

libertychick · 22/02/2013 21:47

QueenCadbury thinking about it I meant water resistant rather than waterproof! No links as I have deliberately not looked for one. I am determined to wear my 'not entirely perfect Gap one' for another spring/summer as it's ok and I am being picky about the creasing, blotchy marks when it rains etc Grin...Like novels coat though...

I am olive skinned too and bought a great greeny Olivey Stoney colour by Burberry, very flattering. Basically darker than beige, so warmer.

My best beige trench purchase has been one from Banana Republic, years ago in New York. Still going strong. Which is probably why the Gap one is good. Banana Republic ones tend to get good reviews in magazines.

I recently bought a genuine Burberry one on eBay for a bargainers £50. £10 on a dry clean and it's as good as new. Can't yet report back on whether or not it' good, as it's been too flipping cold!

BrandyAlexander · 22/02/2013 22:03

How about this one?
