Just come back from the hairdresser, I'm so upset :-(

I know it's pathetic, it doesn't really matter, etc etc. But I've just been to the hairdresser and my hair is awful. They asked if I'd mind if a trainee did it, supervised. I said it would be fine, but it wasn't. They mixed up the colour wrong, so where I was meant to just have a refresh of the lovely chestnut brown that I had on before, now it's a kind of brassy mousy blonde. And I loved the length, it was perfect, but needed a trim. I asked for an inch, they've taken off a good seven inches, because the trainee cut it wonky and kept trying to fix it instead of asking for help. And it's right across the wave, so now instead of being wavy it just sticks out Sad

I'm going back next week and they're going to redo the colour at no extra charge and hopefully fix it. But there's not a lot that can be done about the cut, unless they take off even more which I don't want.

I know it's terrible to be upset about it, so vain, but it's really upset me and I keep crying Sad My hair was the only thing I really liked about myself - I'm kind of short, too skinny, small boobs, funny teeth, tiny round head, but I had really nice hair and now it's short and horrible.

What's worse is I only went in because there's a special occasion next week that I wanted to look nice for, and now I wish I hadn't, it literally looked better with roots and split ends!

Sorry for the rant, I know it's a silly thing to cry about, but DP isn't back yet and he'll only say it looks lovely regardless.

That's even worse Shock

I think you're right about the feedback form, it was for her tutors. I'd have given her positive feedback if she'd asked, I don't think anything was her fault as such. She wasn't very capable but in that case she shouldn't have been doing it, but that's her tutor's fault not hers. She was a lovely girl and I wouldn't want her to get into trouble, just have some more training! But I resent being tricked into signing a feedback form that I haven't seen or filled in myself.

I know where you are coming from...I remember walking home (3 miles) after getting my hair done rather than getting the bus because i thought the other passengers would laugh at the state of my hair!!!!! Lol
It grew out ! You'll be fine, honest.

bump, because I want to know how the OP got on with this problem, please.

ComeAlongPond · 05/03/2013 16:16

Oh sorry, I never came back to this thread! They sorted it out for me, changed the colour to what I asked for to begin with. And gave me my money back, plus the updo, and a voucher for the salon that I can use either for another cut and colour in a few months or for products etc. The lady I spoke to was really kind, she really made me feel better. She offered to cut it again but we agreed that it would be best to just let it grow through. And now that the colour is nice, it doesn't look half as bad.

Oh good! Although I would go for the products! At least you have a good colour - the cut can always grow out. X

It's so depressing how much we all seem to pay for hair we're not happy with - had this last week. Despite taking a picture in and describing as clearly as possible what I wanted, I still ended up with something different.
Surely other than the skills of the job, a hairdresser should be able to listen. Very few of them seem to.

Yotamsrazor · 05/03/2013 22:03

I'm so pleased that the salon redeemed themselves and that you feel a lot better with your hair now. That's the best outcome possible under the circumstances.

MrsBertMacklin · 06/03/2013 10:51

Good turnaround from the salon, OP. Glad for you that this was the outcome.

Nellymay · 06/03/2013 10:53

:) good result.. Glad you're feeling happier with it.

ComeAlongPond · 06/03/2013 11:39

Thanks everyone Thanks If it hadn't been for you lot I'd probably have never said anything and been quietly unhappy!

Great ComeAlong. Really pleased they put effort into making you feel better.

Nicecuppachar · 06/03/2013 11:50

Get your money back! The thing is - you are not being offered a free recolour - you have already paid for the colour that they bodged!
Therefore, you should get a full refund AND recolour!

yuleheart · 06/03/2013 11:51

I once agreed to a trainee blow drying my long curly hair, she got the brush well and truly stuck, it took the owner of the salon a good ten minutes to free the brush!

Since then , no trainees ever on my hair again, its me thats got to walk round with it.

I wouldn't have paid if I was you (and I would have probably cried in the salon in front of everyone if they had cut seven inches off).
