If you wear red what colour do you wear with it?

I like wearing red but I never know what to wear with it. I don't like black and own hardly any black items of clothing. I do put it with navy blue sometimes but I always end up feeling like a french person or a sailor!

How do you wear your red?

I tend to go for more of a raspberry red and - when I'm not wearing it with black - it looks really good with grey. I don't wear really bright red very often, but when I do it's as a dress rather than separates - so black opaques for me!

I have 10+ red dresses.

Usually worn with polka dots or leopard print or fur.

Black looks too worky IMO. Navy better but yeah, definitely could be a bit sailor-esque!

Hmmmm I guess I'm thinking more red tops than dresses.......

Beige and camel can be good foils for bright red.

womblingalong · 20/02/2013 17:12

Grey, (all shades), denim, camel, navy

christinarossetti · 20/02/2013 17:17

YY to grey, camel, beige and other muted tones.

scarlet76 · 20/02/2013 17:45

Yes - tan, beige, oatmeal

ivanapoo · 20/02/2013 18:03

I love it with denim. Also navy, taupe and off white (I like the nautical look!).

If you're feeling colour blocky it can look good with pink too.

Don't like it with black, or with green unless you're going to a fancy dress party as a christmas elf.

Camel
Magenta
Hot pink
Navy
Cobalt

LakeFlyPie · 20/02/2013 21:38

I love red with turquoise and emerald green

sweetheart · 20/02/2013 22:13

Hmmmmm I have just brought a caramel sort of colour pair of trousers so will have to try it with that. I don't really wear lighter colours on my bottom half as I'm a pear shape. I like red with denim but can't wear jeans to work.

Dark grey or denim.

Sonotkylie · 21/02/2013 10:50

Grey or olive green or tan. I also like leopard print or stripes - which can reduce the blockiness (but not necessarily the sailor effect) of wearing with blue or black - so stripy black or blue pencil skirt with red top for work?

sweetheart · 21/02/2013 10:53

I love a bit of leopard print but i often worry about the Bet Lynch effect when wearing red & leopard print together!

I wear a red jacket on top of a bottle green t-shirt and I really like that. I do also really love red with chocolate brown and think it goes very well. Looks warm. I like red with grey but don't wear it personally as I look kack in grey.

MrsBeep · 21/02/2013 11:09

I like combining red and grey or red and browns. Goes well usually.

StuckOnARollercoaster · 21/02/2013 11:28

My favourite work outfit is a red top worn with some cream smart trousers - works better in spring than the depths of winter though! In the winter I do put the red top with black or grey trousers and skirts...

Sonotkylie · 21/02/2013 14:14

I am embracing my inner Bet! Seriously, I use a scarf or just visible top or shoes in leopard print. Again, its to break it up a bit. Even more bizarrely, when I tried it first time (camel cords, tan wedge desert boots, red jumper and leopard scarf) DH amazed me by saying I looked smart ... I'm hooked on it now.
Saw a grey/ dark grey striped jersey pencil skirt in ( whisper it) White Stuff this morning. Sitting next to a red button down shirt ....

Teal or cobalt.
