Opinions Please - Boucle Jacket. Are they a bit passé now?

this

Haven't seen it in real life so don't know if the faux leather trim will look a bit cheap. Love the look of it on line - like them on others but always feel slightly frumpy and 'older' when I wear one even though I plan on wearing with skinny jeans and heels. Might even do for work with black trousers.

What are your thoughts on it? Have Boucle jackets been done to death now and on their way out the door
Thanks

I love boucle and have several Zara ones. I like the soft texture the fact they are casual but still smarter and more interesting than a cardi or blazer. I think they are still "in" but I would still wear even if not. My Zara ones all have raw edges which I prefer. Tbh not sure about the pleather trim on this one, it would put me off buying it even though the colour is nice.

Sorry meant I have several Zara boucle jackets

NorksAreMessy · 16/02/2013 22:36

I think they are sooooo passé they have gone all the way round he back and come out as vintage.
Def. not for me, but WIthsome heels and a bold lipstick, you could do it.
BUT if you are , ahem, matronly, you MIGHT look a little Hyacinth in it (just imagining self and upholstered Norks in boucle jacket, more OMG than JackieO :( )

FaffTastic · 16/02/2013 22:37

Know what you mean about the pleather trim though thought it might give it a bit more of an 'edge' so long as its not to plastic-y looking

It's 25% off online at the moment as well so might just go for it even though I have gone mad this week with buying things and have overflowing wardrobe full of things that I've worn once or twice never to be worn again. Massive streamlining and flogging on eBay here I come

Haha Norks know what you mean - I'm a 32E and fear that's why I sometimes feel a bit frumpy in them and that they make me look boxy and broad shouldered. Don't know if this is justified or me just being overly self-critical

I think the Zara ones are fab but IMO this one looks cheap, sorry. Think it's the shape - too formal. Boucle is a formal thing traditionally, the modern take is a more casual and slouchy shape. IMO quite a few high st shops are getting it wrong. Sorry Blush feel free to ignore me if you like it of course!

FaffTastic · 16/02/2013 22:51

You're probably right - casual and slouchy is kind of what I want hence why I probably feel too frumpy in the more formal style ones. Off to have a look at the Zara site now - was just tempted by the 25% online discount at Warehouse and getting carried away!

Lucky escape Wink

I bought this jacket today from River Island, was reduced to £25 and I love it - not one you can dress up though. Was in Zara and they had lots of bargains still - their sale will still be going next January at this rate.

JumpHerWho · 16/02/2013 23:02

nice but poss not what you seek

FaffTastic · 16/02/2013 23:05

Both nice and have seen in RL but not want I'm looking for - they give me the shoulders of an American footballer and have enough blazer style jackets. Thanks though!

I didn't know they were "in", as my dear old mum would say.

I still wear a purple boucle jacket for work, nipped-in waist and short. Always gets compliments. M and S 1996. Grin

CointreauVersial · 17/02/2013 00:30

Faff, I saw your jacket instore today. I thought it was lovely.

FaffTastic · 17/02/2013 01:32

Still contemplating Cointreau Grin - they have 25% off online until midnight tomorrow if you saw anything in store that took your fancy.
