Sorry coats again, but can you help with the best waterproof but NOT warm coat?

OK, so have a Merrell Wakefield insulated, which is great. However it is only suitable for single figure temperatures. Are the non-insulated ones much, much cooler and lighter? I love the hood and styling, I need a coat that will keep me dry on a half-hour walk but that will not make me too hot. And not look too frumpy. I am a 14/16 and have an XL, it is a sensible fit but large rather than small - would I be better off with an L in the non-insulated?

I have the non insulated one and i love it. You can wear it in the summer over a t-shirt. And yes, I think you'd be better off with the L if you find XL quite roomy.

I have this Patagonia trench (in black), which is completely waterproof and pretty light:

duende, interesting, thanks. leedy, £200 is somewhat above budget! But my Merrell was a pre-owned but not worn ebay bargain so one never knows...

I got mine in the sales, so it was also considerably cheaper! Def check out ebay.

Nelly that looks nice but I'm sceptical of the 'hidden hood'. Does that mean 'tiny hood that doesn't actually cover your head and blows off at slightest gust'?

Glad you like it - no, my hood is a good fit and has elastic with "tighteners" i don't know what you call them but you use them to loosen or tighten the elastic cord

I have the versaille in navy and the astana, but that is insulated and not what you want
