It it my dd's First Holy Communion in May and, having spent all my time organising her outfit, I now have no idea at all what I should wear.

For her christening (disclaimer: I was in the depths of pnd and still carrying an extra 2 stone) I wore the most horrendous pair of trousers and shirt and I would like to actually look half decent this time!

I am 5'10" and a size 14-16 pear shape if this helps.

Can you give some more detail about what you like normally? budget? What sort of look are you going for? For pear shaped ladies, and just for ease of dressing I'd pick a dress

this is very elegant, has detail round the shoulders which should help balance your shape and according to the reviews is very flattering on curves.

Very different look but 1950s swing dresses here or much cheaper here suit your shape and emphasise your waist - very glamorous with peep toed heels?

Can you get out and try on lots of dresses? If time is limited John Lewis, House of Fraser, Debenhams etc all have personal shopping services which I've heard good things about.

Ooh these those dresses are lovely Jelloonsprings - thanks!

I tend to wear a line or full skirts rather than straight styles usually and I prefer to cover my back/chest so I'm actually drawn to that Tesco one although I'd change the belt I think. I might order it and try it - I just hope it won't be too short.
