After reading on here about mua eyeshadows I went and bought undressed palette. What other stuff would you recommend from cheap retailers that are as good as premium brands?
Doesn't have to be just MUA.
I am in the need of restocking my makeup from scratch.
Thanking you Smile

Avon gel eyeliner, I think it might be called colour shock. It's fantastic.

QueefLatina · 15/02/2013 15:54

Sleek makeup is really good. I like the 'oh so special' eyeshadow palette and the face contour stuff.

You can get it from superdrug but there's usually nothing left when I go in so I always get it online.

MooMinCow · 15/02/2013 16:08

Yy, Sleek eyeshadow palettes, blushers, contour powder and lip balm pots are amazing quality. Also second the Avon Supershock gel eyeliner pencil. MeMeMe (Superdrug) is identical to Benefit (if you like their products), though I've never tried it.

I also love Rimmel, NYC, Barry M and Models Own nail polish. Teamed with a good top coat they last ages!

colditz · 15/02/2013 16:40

Yes the sleek palettes are just lovely, as is their pout polish.

Ooh thanks for all these recommendations. I'm a amateur at makeup so don't want to spend loads. Any recommendations for makeup brushes? Got a set of eBay but they fell apart Confused

The Superdrug 2True ripoff of Benetint/Posietint is very good.

QueefLatina · 15/02/2013 17:25

The Body Shop for brushes.

Lush do nice lip tints as well. I have one called 'It started with a kiss'. It smell quite strongly of toffee apples but it's a nice colour in between pink and red

MooMinCow · 15/02/2013 18:15

Real Techniques brushes from Boots. Best brushes I've used, synthetic so can be used with powder or cream formulations, don't shed and wash and dry easily.

OrchidFlakes · 15/02/2013 19:44

MUA concealer is fab

Yy to sleek - brilliant stuff, their red lipstick - vixen is phenomenol

showtunesgirl · 15/02/2013 20:00

The Studio brushes from ELF are great and anything from Barbara Daly Make Up from Tesco is brilliant. Their foundation is as good as anything by Mac that I've used.

Also Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel is EXACTLY like Smashbox Primer so I've stopped buying Smashbox and have saved myself a fortune.

FaffTastic · 15/02/2013 20:41

Barbara Dale make-up from Tescos is meant to be v v good - particularly her primer and foundations I think

FaffTastic · 15/02/2013 20:42

Daly not Dale!

gregssausageroll · 15/02/2013 20:43

Someone suggested elf makeup. Not bought but I do love the website!
