Are GHD Straighteners worth the money?

I have really thick shoulder length hair which needs taming. I use Babyliss straighteners but they take ages. Should I invest in some GHD's and what is so good about them?

They work. Admittedly I'm not sure what the competition is like at the moment, as I got mine about ten years ago, but they straighten my (very thick shoulder length) hair in practically no time at all. If I'm in a rush I can run them through in about 5 minutes and look pretty respectable, and it only takes 10-15 if I'm being excessively particular.

I think so, although to be fair I went for ghd's from the off and haven't used anything else. Mine are about 10yrs old and still going strong. I also bought dd some for Christmas.

I have read complaints that ghds aren't what they were and that something called Cloud 9 are the next big thing. I know no more than that though.

Dd's from Christmas seem to be just fine so far..(touch wood)

I have very thick hair with an annoying flick. Ghd's are the only ones that work. All the others were crap

I would say yes like everyone else if you bought them 10 years ago. I recently bought a new pair and sold them on again as they were nowhere near as good as they used to be. This is the opinion of several friends also. My Dad mended my old pair in the end.

He smashed my GHDs Sad

okay he did something else that day too but the GHDs was the final straw for me

I was perfectly happy with my old ones but I could not BELIEVE the difference when I got GHDs.

Yes worth every penny I have the wide ones they are the only thing that work on my super thick coarse hair

I've always loved mine but noticed they now seem to drag my hair as I pull them through. They are nowhere near as smooth or effective as they used to be. Is there any way to rectify this or is it just time for a new pair?

I haven't used any other straighters but my ghds do the job on my stupidly thick long hair. And they're the pink ones in aid of breast cancer so there was a contribution to breast cancer awareness as well when I got them.

I have thick hair too and do mine in sections starting underneath and working up.

yes they are brilliant. I can also recommend having a Brazilian blowdry for thick hair.

Yes I've sworn by mine for the last 10 years (and everyone I know who bought different makes have ended up with GHDs eventually anyway!)

Love mine too! DH ran out of time to get me a Christmas present a couple of years ago. Asked me what I would like, said hair straighteners. He got me to get them, so I went for the best! serves him right for not going himself :o
