I have noticed that shops that go up to 16 hardly ever put those sizes out. it's really annoying as it means ordering online. why do they do that? and i do ask if they have them in that size and they generally only have a few 14s then lots of smaller sizes.

I've found the opposite, actually. As a size 16-18 I used to be able to find my size quite easily but now I'm a 10 quite often those sizes are sold out, even online. It's annoying.

It might also be something to do with things that are flattering on a certain size selling out quicker in the sizes they suit best.

ahh yes, shoes in a size 8/9... reminds me of a conversation I had with a shop assistant in Principles a few years ago. I asked for a size 8 in a particular style and was told they didn't have any size 8's cus "...they sell out really quickly". "How about getting some more?" says I, "Oh no," says the sales assistant "there'd be no point, we only ever sell 1 or 2 pairs in that size", when I asked how many pairs they had delivered in a size 8, she replied "1 or 2 pairs..." Confused
