The oldest item of clothing you have and still wear

Just wanted to know if any of you keep items of clothing that are 'very' old but still wear?

For me, I have a Pineapple t-shirt from about 20 years ago that I still wear to bed sometimes. I love it and would never think of throwing it out! It's a little tatty but still in pretty good nick.

Is it just me?

A black fake fur (can't remember the proper name for it) swing coat. I bought it about 20 years ago from Denenhams and it still looks good as new.

I have my grandmas vyella nightie. It's actually wool! bit itchy but I used till wear it over pjs as a student, and again when we moved here...discovered fleece pjs so haven't needed it for a few years.

Grandma died in 1982... She'd had the nightie years too-infact she slept on the sofa in a tracksuit and sleeping bag for many years. Gosh gran thought the stretchy synthetic track suit was absolutely amazing!

Great Grandmothers fur jacket from 1909 - only wear it on skiing holidays abroad obviously as I'm anti-new fur but pro never throwing anything out.

I've got a nice dress that I bought when I was 18, so mmmm 17 years ago which I still wear.

I also dug out some loafers last year that I bought when I was 16 from Dolcis. They totally disintegrated the first time I wore them (in nearly 20 years) very embarrassingly in the foyer of a very posh 5star hotel. I was left wearing the uppers while the soles were in a pile of crumbs about 5m behind me. I had to stalk across the foyer with my nose in the air pretending it hadn't happened.

I have an Adidas sweatshirt. One of the round neck ones with the three stripes running up the sleeves. They were the height of fashion when I bought it in 1997. I still wear it occasionally, although not with a Fila polo shirt underneath and my hair scraped back with a scrunchie!!

I also have a River Island leather jacket that I was given as a birthday present in 1999. I loved it for years and years. I keep it in a suitcase because it has dated hideously but I won't be parted from it.

I've got a Whistles suit that I bought in 1999. Don't have much call for a suit these days but when I do, it still looks fabulous. I remember being very gulp about the price but it has been worn to death and always seems to fit no matter what size I happen to be at the time!

Also a FC cardigan that I bought pre-pg so must be nearly 10 yo. Still get compliments about it now.

Nothing I have bought in the last 5 years will last anything like as long. (much smaller budget these days!)

I have a leather jacket my grandfather bought around 1960ish. He gave it to my dad when he decided he didn't want it and I "acquired" it in the 90's.

I wore it when I was veggie to my grandads great amusement on the grounds that it was made well before I was even a twinkle. It still has my grandads name on the inside - its an heirloom and I still wear it now although its a bit on the shabby side!

A navy cashmere m&s v neck that I used to wear for school aged about 14 (21 years ago). It had been my Mum's before that but not sure when she got it.

I wore a leopardprint coat last Friday that I bought in 1996/7.

I still have a pair of leopardprint shoes from the same era, which I wear a couple of times a year.

I also have a jacket I wear regularly for work which I bought when DS1 was a baby (I remember pushing him round the shop in his buggy when buying it!) he will be 15 this year.

my nighties are from when i had dd1 - she is 21 this year
my sparkle top is from 1962 - it was my mum's
my full length winter coat is from 1990
in fact a lot of my better clothes are older- i think they must have been made better as newer stuff just doesn't seem to last as long

I still have a few bits from when I was a teenager (I'm 42 this year) but don't wear - some skirts I made and loads of band t-shirts plus my bikers jacket that I got for my 16th and then customised. The only things I still actually wear are a cotton crocheted jumper I bought from Carnaby Street when I was 19/20 and a mens cashmere coat that I got from Oxfam about the same time that I wear when it's really cold (getting a bit shabby now, but I love it and it's so warm)

I still wear a jersey dress I got as a teenager some 20 years ago. It lasted most of the way into my pregnancies too, nice and loose and stretchy. Contemplating ditching the jacket I was given for passing my GCSEs as I don't really wear it any more, maybe for that reason it's still in great nick.

Have an bánín that belonged to my dad that must be at least 50 years old knitted by my gran.
Also have a crochet top my other gran made for me about 30 years ago.
My office cardie which gets worn most days I knitted in 92 and it is still going strong.
Also have a number of lovely hippy tops/dresses that I bought in the late 80s/early 90s so probably date from late 60s. these get worn regularly in the summer

Esprit trousers (cropped Khaki) bought 2nd hand by my Mum in the 80's, she gave them to me and I still wear them every summer and everyone asks where I got them...
The truth is never told and I suspect my daughter might well end up in them...

I have a white fake fur coat that my Nana bought in the early '60's and a 70's wrangler denim jacket that was my Dad's, luckily he was a skinny teenager!

The fake fur looks as good as new and the denim has aged into a beautiful colour and is really soft.
