I have stopped buying it. I was so disappointed with the quality since the Avon takeover. Such a shame as the stuff was really good. The brand is getting too xpensive IMO.

MooMinCow · 12/02/2013 18:37

Same as Greg. Used to use it religiously for five years, then suddenly realised how bloody expensive it had got! IMO there are lots of cheaper alternatives that are just as good (if not better) now. I like the No.7 Hot Cloth cleanser and the Superdrug Naturally Radiant(?) range instead. Valium always rates the Body Shop's Aloe range in these kind of posts!

ProlificWillyBreeder · 12/02/2013 18:42

Has the cleanse and polish changed since Avon took over then?

gregssausageroll · 12/02/2013 18:50

I think so. The worst change is the body cream though. The cleanse and polish seems watered down I think.

RSVP · 12/02/2013 19:24

liz earle is too overpriced and over-hyped in my opinion

Cleanse & Polish: have always found it a bit meh. Body shop or balance Me much much better (on me anyway)
Skin Repair Moisturiser: stinks of egg
Botanical Essence fragrance 1: nondescript
Lash Definition Smudge-proof Mascara: is smudge-proof because it's like wearing no mascara
Lash Care Intensifying Mascara Base: has got to be the biggest rip-off in the history of make-up...

Having said all that, I really like the Instant Boost toner

Missbopeep · 12/02/2013 19:31

All the LE I've bought has either been given away or even Ebayed Sad

I don't rate it. I find some smells unpleasant- the C&P is so thick it drags your skin and surely must make your face droop over time- all that pulling to remove the stuff!

I tried some serum ages back and it did zilch.

Recently bought the foundation and have given away to friend- not a good colour match and terribly "flat"- friend with oily skin said she wouldn't even need powder.

gregssausageroll · 12/02/2013 19:33

Having said what i did, I still like her tinted moisturiser.

ProlificWillyBreeder · 12/02/2013 19:37

I'll avoid a future purchase then. Such a shame.

lyndie · 12/02/2013 19:44

Has anyone who has used it got sensitive skin and found an alternative? It's very calming but not sure if I will continue long term. I use Benefit facial emulsion during the day but LE is very soothing. I heard they were making lots of people on the Isle of Wight redundant? Also not sure LE is very active on fine lines etc, it's lovely and nourishing but I want more from expensive products!

Glossynotflossy · 12/02/2013 19:47

Its going to be a slight rise but don't know how slight

lydie- which products are you talking about?

I have very sensitive skin and use Clinique moisturisers mainly ( not the yellow gunge) but have recently changed to Olay Regenerist unperfumed and was pleasantly surprised- Amazon do it for half price or less.

I Use Bobbi Brown foundation because it's one of the few brands that has a shade for me and is unperfumed.

MooMinCow · 12/02/2013 20:06

Yes Lydie there was talk of redundancies and I posted something a while back about LE resigning as Director. I think Avon are obviously dictating things now there and judging by some comments on LE FB page there are a lot of disillusioned customers Hmm

I would only carry on buying the Eyebright lotion and maybe the Skin Tonic now. I think a lot of people have now realised you can use any old cream cleanser with a hot flannel/muslin cloth with the same effect as a £20 tube of C&P!

lyndie · 12/02/2013 20:16

Sorry - I do like the LE cleanse and polish and the skin tonic, very calming on my pale skin that blotches at most other cleansers. I have been reading some beauty blogs about ingredients in some products that are bad for your skin so perhaps I should look at ingredients more closely. The LE moisturiser is fine but maybe on the heavy side so I only use it in the evenings. The LE eye cream does nothing special for me! I would like to try sonething else. I have used Clinique before but was actually told by a beauty therapist that it was to harsh! But my mum swears by it so maybe I will look again.

I do feel a bit uncomfortable about all the changes at LE, it's daft but I like buying from people like LE but then they are taken over by a bigger company, a bit like The Body Shop. I know its silly because plenty of other stuff I have is made by big brands.....

Good to hear recommendations though.

Missbopeep · 12/02/2013 20:21

I never waste money on expensive cleansers- Boots own brand ( really cheap about £1.20!!) or No 7 or L'Oreal suits me fine- no more than £9 for No 7. Never ever use toner- too harsh- pure rosewater from chemists or plain warm water is just as good.

Walnutcakelover · 12/02/2013 21:25

Never suited my skin, always came out in little red spots. I do like their shampoo and conditioner though.

Arisbottle · 12/02/2013 21:45

I use mostly Liz Earle and it has done wonders for my skin.

I use cleanse and polish and the toner twice a day . I also use the skin oil every evening . I use most of the superskin range and find it fairly priced.

The hair range was very disappointing .

Arisbottle · 12/02/2013 21:46

I do have to use a clean piece of muslin every day or I get spotty. I bought a job lot of eBay and am gradually adding in Liz Earle ones.

chickydoo · 12/02/2013 23:43

Not skin care, but love the newest perfume. Had no idea it was Avon
