Another 'find me a dress for a wedding' thread, but I will be 8.5 months pregnant...

I have no idea where to start to look.
I am five foot three, size ten, er, huge giant bump.
I don't want to spend a fortune because I am not planning any more children so I only expect to wear the dress once!

ASOS have a good maternity range...

Any good?

maxi?

bargain

ALittleLemonTwist · 11/02/2013 21:31

And 8.5 months pregnant? Hope venue not too far from hospital!

BikeRunSki · 11/02/2013 21:41

When is it?

Jojo have some pretty things for around £40. The navy spot one could be dressed up for a wedding, and then dressed down for the post-natal-but-but-still-big period, then sold on eBay. I found that my Jojo maternity wear sold for not bad prices.

If I was the happy couple I'd be well impressed if you turned up at all at 8.5 months pg, and would be happy for you to wear a duvet cover.

DewDr0p · 11/02/2013 21:58

I went to a wedding when I was 8m pg a few years ago. I decided a slightly more relaxed look would be OK as I was so far gone Grin and because it was very nearly the end of my last ever pg.

Do you have anything in your maternity wardrobe that it might be possible to dress up with some statement jewellery? I had a cheap (non-maternity) black and white print wrap dress that I wore over white linen mat trousers with silver ballet pumps.

M&S sells cheapish wedding accessories in the summer (fascinators, small bags, pretty hair clips etc) which might be useful to make something look more weddingy too?

Have a lovely time - I had a ball!

Dewdrop, I thought I could wear a TopShop maternity dress I bought last pregnancy, and never wore, but I was a size 14 back then and it (this sounds ridiculous as it is a maternity dress) is just too big.
I don't have any skirts or dresses apart from that! I had been wearing some dresses that were cut so they happened to look Ok despite me being pregnant earlier, but those days are over, the bump is too big.

BikeRun - next month, yes some of them could be dressed up, I quite like the plain purple one actually. I have silver shoes that might look nice with it.

Alittlelemon, I like the first one, maxis are never any good for me, being quite short!

The maxi Lemon linked is lovely!

noblegiraffe · 11/02/2013 22:52

I went to a wedding at 39 weeks and found that dresses were simply not cut for the heavily pregnant woman and looked dreadful. I ended up wearing a nice chiffony top and smart black leggings and looked ok and felt comfortable.

MrsVJDay · 11/02/2013 22:55

I wore a Monsoon dress, size 18 tho I'm still a 10 everywhere except bump, in a lovely empire line style at nearly 8 months, three weeks ago! they have some really lovely (and) forgiving styles atm.

MrsVJDay · 11/02/2013 22:57

ah, just realised you're going as a guest Blush. They still have some nice empire lines in colours other than white!

leannac · 13/02/2013 17:58

Tiffany rose does utterly beautiful maternity dresses but quite pricey.....

Heavywheezing · 13/02/2013 18:04

I wore a French connection maxi dress when I went to a wedding at 8 months.

I managed to stay out of every photo except the horrible one that my mil keeps on her piano.

Like this, I could wear it after as we'll.
