Which hand cream would you recommend?

The skin all around my knuckles has gone all red and dry :( can anyone recommend a nice hand cream to make my hands all soft again? My skin is quite sensitive anyway so I need something gentle that isn't going to irritate it further.

TIA :)

Aveeno a good budget option, and L'Occitane for my handbag. Both have shea butter which seems to be the magic ingredient for me. I hated the smell of the Body Shop Hemp one.

MM, I find sometimes I just need to let them heel, and use more cream (and intensively as above: wearing gloves after moisturising). I also use a cuticle cream which seems to help, but it has to be religious: twice a day.

I've worn cotton gloves to be with hand cream for 3 nights in a row. IT WORK's!!! My manky nails & ragged cuticles are getting better & better.

Sadly I woke up this am with only one glove! Shock Need to have words with DD2 re the other glove (perils of co-sleeping).

The best hand cream I've ever come across is Penhaligons Quercus Hand and Nail cream. It has magical powers. Expensive and hard to source though.

Body shop hemp hand protector. I get dry/cracked knuckles when I'm stressed and it clears them up in a day or two.
More luxurious is the Liz Earle Hand kit: comes with a moisturiser and a balm and special cotton gloves to wear overnight. That one works really well too and smells divine (unlike the hemp which smells of old hemp rope).

Another vote for Neutrogena Norwegian formula. It's really rich but absorbs very well and makes your skin v silky within a few days.

Marathon I use the vaseline and gloves at night for finger splits.
I also cover them with a plaster in the day to cushion them - otherwise I find that as they're healing if you put pressure on them they can split open again like little sausages.

I find nipple stuff is really good too.

I have a tube of barely used nipple cream at home (The purple one) I will try applying to gloved nails at night. Cheers for the tip.

Shame to waste it BeCool

It's equally as good on dry knees.

Got some Aveeno hand cream today following old recommendations on here and flippin eck it's brill.

Better than Neutrogena hand cream or comfort balm /Nivea soft /anything else I've tried.

Cheap in Boots at the moment too. Going to try it overnight with cotton gloves. The Nivea Soft had been working reasonably well but I've high expectations of the Aveeno after using it during the day. Very long lasting effect on the skin but totally non-greasy.

I love clarins and L'Occitane. Rarely get split nails but I could just be lucky with that.

I've used:
Clarins -smells nice and that's it.
Body shop Hemp- smells weird but works ok
La Roche Posay- ok
Lush HandyGurugu- feels lovely on but effect doesn't last
Soap and Glory- ok
L'Occitane- ok, expensive,nothing special
Norwegian formula- horribly greasy but works well
Johnson's 24 hour moisture- greasy initially but sinks in well and it works- hands are lovely and soft
Nivea Soft- ok
Will try the Aveeno next. Smile
