Help! Have been invited to black tie event - what to wear??

I so wish I was a man - dinner jacket, black tie, cummerbund .. You can't go wrong..

But I have no idea what to wear ...

I don't want to spend a fortune as money is tight-ish at the moment and god knows when I'd get to wear any outfit again. It's a 50th birthday (and I'm pushing 50 too).

Any ideas gratefully received - I'm 5'7", size 12, not as toned as I once was and I loathe my upper arms so not keen on sleeveless

What's your budget? Do you have shoes?

Alexon have some nice dresses in the sale, not many have sleeves but you could always wear a shrug?
